hot and cold forum posts

Post by mightwin »

I enjoy reading this forum, and have for a while.  Some days it's entertaining to see the back and forth between some of the regulars and the people who annoy them - some day's it's just too much.  It gets hateful really, really quickly.

Some topic starts out hot - wow just won a bunch - looking forward to everyone winning, then goes waaaay off course.  I like to see stories of others winning because I'm living through those wins, since I seem not to hit any recently.

Another way to describe some of the posts would be - boy, someone's HOT under the collar - or, gee they're getting the COLD shoulder.

I saw someone saying - can't we just agree to disagree.  I guess not.  Another post mentioned that a topic got to page 11 really fast.  It reminds me of political campaigns that start out throwing mud and end up throwing elephant dung (or some other very large creature).

Go ahead - blast me.  I can take it.  It's not as if those sticks and stones can come through my monitor.  I might sit here a little bit down and hurt by some posts, but it's ok.  Tomorrow's another day.

I enjoy all the stories and advice.  Thank you for sharing yours with me.

(I had to say this.  I apologize in advance if I've hurt any one's feelings.)

What is important in the discussions is that the charlatans get exposed.  If this kind of discussion had taken place in the investment community, Madoff would never have happened to the extent he did.

This discussion won't last long. If you don't like it then don't read the thread. Webman will shut it down eventually, but he likes to give Fa la la time to hang himself yet again. Yes, it's Rob making the latest posts. Note, how Joe was much nicer and friendlier and all of a sudden the posts got ugly. That is when Rob jumped in.

I don't know what's in it for Joe to let Rob use his name. I suppose he's bought into the lies and now doesn't want to admit he was mistaken.

Absolutely true.

The main proponent of unconventional play (Fa la la) is trying to get dollars to jump from your pocket to his based on views he can't support.  If he was just another forum member making posts I, at least, wouldn't pay much attention to him.

As SM said, Webman will shut down that thread sooner or later and we'll get back to business as usual until the next go-round.

If I don't like how the thread is going, I don't read it.  Some times I read it even if it's nasty, just for the entertainment value.

I'm just amazed at how much time is wasted some days on the back and forth, pounding the same exact thing, only phrased slighty differently.

If I suggest that jumping off a cliff would help your win/loss ratio - and a bunch of you commented that it wouldn't help, wasn't proven, was just downright stupid - I would stop suggesting it.  I would be wasting my time to suggest you start with a smaller hill and work yourself up to a cliff.

In the back and forth bickering, I'm well aware that most times nothing is actually said that's useful, it's just fun to read.  The tried and true regulars make sense and have patience, while the annoying ones keep on and on and on.  The attacks are surprising and start very quickly.

I just wanted to bring this up to read myself yap I suppose.

While I'm up on that soap box, I'd like to add another point some people complain about - the chat for gold members on the contests.  Don't get me wrong - I like the contests.  I'm not complaining about the chats.  I play the contests and it gets very hard to pay attention because I'm laughing so hard at the chats.  I can't wait to see the next response.  I think the people complaining are the same ones that can't see why "those people" are cheering for the opposing team at a sporting event.  I'm not a gold member, but I can truly say "go gold"!

The one I laughed most at was the chat about a cheating boyfriend.  There were lots of suggestions that were fantastic.  The one I liked the best was to throw his belongings on the curb and light them on fire.  That's an idea to remember just in case.

Thank you very much for listening/reading to my yapping.

May all of us have a story of winning today.  Go VP Team!

Mightwin, I totally agree with you about the recent looong thread that turned pretty nasty.  I quit reading at about page 11 because it made by head hurt.  I enjoy the discussions regarding mathematical strategy and RNG, but when it gets off course, it's not productive, so what's the point?
