Jacks or Better Paytable
I was playing today at Metropolis, Il at the Harrahs there. I was playing jacks or better. There were two different playtables to play at the dollar level. The nickels, quarters and fifty cents are horrible 6/5 paytables once in awhile you might find a 7/5.
One paytable had 9/6 but only paid $2,500 for a royal flush.
The other had 8/5 but paid $4,000 for a royal flush.
Which paytable is better to play?
I decided to play the 8/5. I came out at the end of the day $3 up! I paid two tips out of my five dollar winnings.
Put through the machine about $6,000 since I earned nearly 600 base points. Base point playing video poker at Harrahs is 1 base point for every ten dollars in.
Thanks for your advice.

Congrats on not losing! The 8/5 game pays 97.30%; the 9/6 game with the low royal pays 98.88%. If you use regular 9/6 strategy and make no modifications for the short-pay royal, the game will yield 98.80%.

Thank you New2vp for information. I play 9/6 strategy pretty much on all JoB I play. I always figured it was pretty good way to play the game.
