Four Northern Native American Casinos in 3 days
We had a fun trip UP NORTH.Our first losing stop was at the large, rustic and handsome Soaring Eagle Casino at Mt Pleasant, Michigan. Little did we realize that Little River, at Manistee, was celebrating their 11th year. It was crowded as there was a drawing for $2K every hour. That HUGE place is amazing in decor including the gigantic three story high large stone fireplace in front that serves as a meeting place. We enjoyed a comped night and love their pool.We stopped briefly at newish Turtle Creek near Traverse City. Their rooms were booked solid. I doubled. You could hear one guy screaming throughout the casino, celebrating his win. He was playing table poker with a special $10K win if you landed quads in sixes, sevens or eights. "I LOVE TURTLE CREEK CASINO" was his reply into the mike when asked how he liked the casino. We enjoyed the pool and last night at newish Odawa Hotel, at Petoskey,a short distance from their casino. They offer continuous shuttle between the two and complimentary breakfast. The shuttles will drive passengers to destinations within seven mile radius and pick them up. Happily, I recouped my loses with a .25 royal on five play TDB, both firsts for me, by saving A, K and Q of hearts. It was fun to play some of that back in, trying some gutsy five and ten play including .50 and $1 level. I should have walked!

I should have known why you weren't home. You might have had better luck if the shuttle had bugs in the ceiling. Nice Royal though!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to Kati and Mr Kati!!! That is a beautiful time of year to go NORTH. Take a warm jacket! The Copper Cafe, in Odawa casino, is nice for a breakfast or a sandwich. The hotel gives out $5 coupons for food in AM and another for PM and some blackjack deals and USA TODAY paper. Self service beverage stations as well as floor servers. I especially liked the 3/5/10 play TDB. There's a fun strip mall between the hotel and casino that we did not visit. Down town on Mitchell street has fun looking stores, too. There's a Magnus City Park, 901 W Lake St. on Little Traverse Bay where you can walk on piles of concrete slabs. There are great sand beaches in that area to search for petoskey stones, the Michigan state stone.

TY farmer1. Have fun, G L and report back to us! When you are ready for a burger and fries, try Johnny Rocket on Boardwalk outside Ballys. It's a cute and retro fun place.

Thank you, Barb. Someone on chat mentioned they go for the $4K royals. That or larger is surely what we would all prefer. However, I know these particular Native American casinos. They are fun and very ungiving! I was truly fortunate and happy to walk away with a little royal! I understand there is a contest starting tomorrow. G L !
