So, out of curiosity, is it illegal to do online gambling in the U.S. and if it isn’t then what are the ins and outs of it all? How does one place bets, gamble and collect winnings or hand out losses?

If you just tell yourself it is stupid and foolish to do any on-line casino gambling then you won't need to get into the ins and outs of it all. The games are fixed and there's no regulations, so why bother?
