Re: Vegas 7Star Trip
Mule, that was some story !! I keep telling any Executive in the casino industry that happens to ask me, it is the "little things" that matter with regards to decisions about where you play, and those things are made or broken by the people that the players interact with, not the Executives. This trip, while in Vegas, we happened to stop at Mirage. I was playing a $5 slot, and a drink girl walked by with a tray full of bottled waters. As she approached, I asked her if I might have one, and she told me "I'll tell your waitress" as she scurried past me over to the penny slots with her waters. I hit a handpay shortly thereafter, and asked the slot attendant if I could PLEASE have a bottle of water. She could not believe it when I told her of my brief encounter with the prior waitress. She got on the radio, and VOILA, a girl appeared with two bottles for me.
As far as your pay table question, I like to play mostly TDB, and the Harrah's pay tables are usually 9/6 or 9/5, with the progressive machines mostly 9/5. They are not great across the board, but probably on par with most other larger properties on the strip.

I have been playing VP since they first came out, I think in the 70's, almost always in Vegas. When Laughlin really opened up, we added that as a regular stop. We always played the coin-dropped regular poker (don't think they had any other type back then).25. My brother and I would go just about every week (we lived 220 miles away) and much more when my Mom moved to Vegas in the 80's. If we did not hit at least 2 or 3 royals on each trip (between us) it was a BAD trip. Many single trips I would hit 3 royals in one night. Since 2001 we have moved to Kentucky, so we almost always have to play Harrah's, as it is the most available. In the last 5 years, if we hit 1 royal a year, we are lucky. Since so many of you seem to know the inside scoop on VP, do you think there is a particular reason why the payouts are so few and far between? Is it just the luck factor, or the economy, or what? I know they have allowed the casinos to scale back their percentage of payouts, but its almost getting to the point where I might have to find a new hobby! Thanks

Welcome cook1947-The casino has no control over the number of Royals you get. (Im not talking about casinos with VLT's) The only thing they control is the paytable. They increase their payback by lowering the payouts for certain hands. I guess you were just lucky until the last 5 years! Did you change the game you are playing? I think there are certain games the the Royas are less frequent as well.

Great hits! billyjoe
We gave up Harrah's for Red Rock and the Palms because of the pay tables. It not even worth staying on the strip anymore in our opinion.

damule,
Wonderful story. It is amazing that companies fail to realize that customer loyalty/satisfaction is often based on the relationships that develop between players and employees or small incidents like yours that occur. All the marketing ploys/strategies are often for naught because of a simple failure to treat a person/customer with dignity and respect.

Hi Cookie,Welcome to our world.. One of the reasons I think we see less Royals is because of the bonus plays...I'm like you and can remember playing at the old Palace Station in Vegas...Hit a royal almost every trip..Then they added the 4A bonus, DB and DDB and it seems the royals are fewer and fewer...Now we get excited to get the AAAA. Who knows for sure..Pay tables certainly play a role in our profit but where the royal is concerned it should hit regardless of the pay table but that doesn't seem to be the case...

To start nice hits, but since this reminded of a story once.
I had been playing for 2 days. On my last day I played off the rest of my money and never once got an offer for a drink. So after a couple of hours I was out and ready to call it quits. But I was so dam thirsty I went to the bar to ask for a coke. The guy said I had to be playing or it would cost me $2.00. I explained to him I had just been playing for 2 days had not seen a waitress blah blah. He just gave me a blank look and shrugged his shoulders. (I looked around and people are playing single line .05 one credit at a time with more $6 imported beers than they can drink. I was so hot... literally and figuratively that was my last trip to that casino.
Did the same thing to the Horizon a few years ago. They use to cash my check and one day I tried to cash a check. The girl pulled up my info AS I WAS filling out the check. Once I made it out they said they had a new rule they could not cash even amount checks anymore. It had to have at least a cent on the end of it. Like insead of $800 it had to be $800.21. I was like huh? She called a supervisor over I explained I cashed many checks before play all the time blah blah and they said sorry. Again last time to that Casino.
