Autohold for Dealt Royals
Hi --
This isn't strategy per se ... but was just wondering about the phenomenon of dealt royals being held automatically for all hands on multiplay poker.
I have seen it happen to my brother on a basic 3/5/10 play video poker machine. My mom also had a dealt royal on a basic IGT Triple Play poker game and all hands were held automatically.
Does this also happen on other games (Super Times Pay, Big Times Pay, etc)? I almost had a dealt royal on Dream Card Poker and though I did pick up a royal on the draw ... I had wondered what would have happened if the royal had simply been dealt -- would it have been autoheld on all hands?
I like the autohold feature ... I would hate to get dealt a royal and then somehow mess it up with a wrongly hit button or some other unfortunate event. Just wondering what people have seen and experienced.
Thanks!

Hi Trey - I have had several dealt royals while playing Spin Poker with dream Card and yes, the auto hold feature kicked in. Good luck to you.

I saw the ugly side to this one night. It was not a Royal but a guy sitting next to me got deal AWAK for $2,000. He said "Wow" and then looked at me. I turned and said "wow congrats" and he turned back to the machine and hit deal. Out came a pair of kings for 5 credits . Needless to say it was a little akward after that.

Twice I have been dealt royals at Palms on three play. DW and DDB in different years. Both times the machine froze my hand so I could do no wrong! Double thanks to the poker gods! It's a great feeling to help compensate for other times...

Trey,
Welcome to the forum. Sometimes it is a good thing autohold is in place. My last dealt RF was on multi-play early in the morning, playing tired which I shouldn't, but....it took me about 10 seconds of thinking, I think I hold all of these. Meanwhile, the machine had locked up. Then I realized it was RF.

What happens on Pick 'Em or Pick a Pair? Does it automatically select and reveal the stack containing the 3 remaining cards to RF?

Witnessed a dealt $1 royal on a cruise ship once. The machine held all the cards.
In her excitement she hit the YES button instead of the draw button. BEWARE OF THE DOUBLE UP FEATURE.
Up pops an Ace of spades for the house. She's freaking. Casino Manager comes over, and explains to her that she has to play it. NO DO OVER'S says he.
With tears in her eyes, she picks the first card, an Ace of diamonds, followed by trash cards. It was a push.
Needless to say, she hit the draw button that time.
Well -- _this_ sounds familiar ... but certainly on a much smaller scale. Hit quads on a quarter machine for 250 credits at an older casino that had VP with the Double Up feature. Wanted to change the screen display from credits to cash to see how much I now had. Was trying to push the number on the screen and it wasn't taking so I kinda rubbed the area but triggered the double up instead. Was quite dumbfounded. Was up against a face card and lost. Was bummed enough as it was losing $62.50 ... can't imagine what would happen if I lost $4K.
Thanks for the various responses, all! Love the collective insight on here.
