hello,i have a couple questions on basic play.

if you play basic play does it give you a postive ev if so how much does it give you.

positve ev 0-5 percent 5 percent being kinda high from my research

now lets assume your playing wrong

at what percentage are you losing 1-5 percent or possibly high.

thanks for the help on this topic i hope to post more topics and cases more later.

i know every casino trip may vary results but if you play basic theory could you have a house edge of say 2 percent over the long haul.

10,000 starting bankroll can you generate 2 percent playing the best odds and best payouts on basic theory

2 percent would be kind of high imo if you can hit it more frequently than not.

there has to be a negative effect to this.

thanks everyone

Welcome to the forum Shamrock.

Each game's pay table will first help you determine the long-term return for the game you are playing. Most games are under 100% long-term return. Then consider how close you play to 100% recommended play. Less than 100% just increases the house edge. So even if you find 100% return but play only 95-98% proficient you will probably lose long-term.

Remember, that the game pay table return is long-term, short-term can be better or worse. Any session could be a great winner even playing poorly. But, overall incorrect play usually leads to even greater loses.

I'm sure even wiser minds will respond.

Good response, LL. The key is to understand the EV of any particular paytable. That is the base from which expert play improves ones chances of success. Poor play may reduce the EV by 1-5% but good play can never increase the EV above its maximum value.

That is where casino extras can help. Casinos offer promotions, cashback and freeplay that do increase a player's edge. All of this needs to be understood to determine the overall value of any game.

if you play 95-98% of your hands correctly and the hands you play incorrectly (example in full pay deuces wild throwing away whole hand vs drawing to inside straight which is the correct play the results are .32 vs .34 or a loss of 2 percent which is a large error and you play 95% of hands correctly and you play 5 percent incorrectly you lose .1% of perfect play so finding games with higher payback is the main key and places with comps of value
