As Ted said, there would have been a chance at $1800 had Carrie tossed the Jack, but most of us think she did the right thing by keeping the sure thing:
If Carrie had tossed the Jack, possible kicker results and

On the other hand, if this were single line, I am guessing that Eduardo might have been tempted to hold only the A`J`
to get a chance at that 4000-coin Royal Flush. But since this is Spin
Poker, he could have only got a royal on one of 9 lines. Even hitting
the royal would have been sadly inferior to Carrie's win. I'm not
certain, but it looks to me like the most that can be gained from
holding A`J` only is $491.50.

Actually, I guess, one could hope for more by simply holding the Ae, and hoping to fill in the heart royal on one line with a 4-card draw, quad deuces on another line, and quad treys on the third line in such a way as to also get 2 additional heart flushes to go with the 2 sets of quads + ace kicker, but the combined $565 on all lines still pales mightily in comparison to Carrie's hold.

This has been an interesting discussion. There is an old saying, " A bird in the hand..." On a sure pay "G" we usually take the money. Of course circumstances also can impact our decisions. 1) Does the hand have a greater probability of a much bigger hit? 2) Are we up or down for the trip and how has play been? 3) We might even take a chance when we have a really good "intuition". But, it's sure hard to turn down that "bird..."

Hold up I am confused and don't think I have ever seen this game. I have seen Super Double Bonus which pays 600 for faces and 800 for Aces.
This game pays different for Aces & and Face and Aces and 2,3,4? I'd like to see the paytable for this game.

I would take the bird LL. As New2vp evidenced, there is too slim a chance of improving the win not to take the sure thing but as you said: everyone is different.

I'd like to see the paytable for this game.spx, you can see at the top of the picture, the name of this game has an extra "Double" in it to indicate that it has kickers: Super Double Double Bonus (SDDB). I can't tell what pay schedule Larry's daughter was playing but there are several different payoffs for quads in all versions:Four As + 2,3,4 400Four As + J,Q,K 320 Four J-K + A, J, Q, K 160 Four 2-4 + A, 2, 3, 4 160 Four Aces 160 Four 2-4 80 Four 5-K 50 These numbers are per coin and would be multiplied by 5 when playing 5 coins. The full-pay version (99.69%) pays 8/5 for full house and flush, finished by 4 for straight, 3 for trips, and a push for two pair or jacks or better. Other common versions are 7/5 and 6/5. Sometimes the lower pay schedules have the straight flush sweetened from 50 per coin to 100.The game has been around a while, but not forever. I see that Bob Dancer wrote about it at least as early as 2007 and the Wizard of Odds page featuring the game carries a date in 2006. I don't know if this helps to date its origin, but it is not an offering in WinPoker (though you can use its User Defined Games to make it) or Frugal Video Poker. SDDB is offered on later-introduced games like Video Poker for Winners, Wolf VP, and on VideoPoker.com Greatest Hits. You can play SDDB on this site as well.SDDB has an interesting upper end of its strategy chart. Since there are so many kickers for quad aces, you do not keep a kicker with trip aces; but it is proper to keep a kicker with trip jacks thru kings even though the payoff is half (or less) of what quad aces + kicker pays. And you don't keep a kicker with trip 2s thru 4s even though the quad 2s-4s + kicker pays the same as quad Js-Ks + kicker.

New2VP,
Carrie' SDDB was a game she hadn't played before. She had caught the Jacks a short time earlier with one kicker so she was already excited at the potential pay offs. While she hadn't played it much before - being a DWB fan she stated to me when she got back home she would be practicing SDDB.
She prefers the 10¢ games because they have slightly higher returns and she can still get good hits on 10¢ and play within her budget. Occasionally, like after this hit she plays 25¢ but not for long if she's not hitting. The variance for SDDB is around 50 or equal to Dbl DW and lower than TDB and Super Aces.
These machines are at IOC Lake Charles if i recall the same spin games at L'auberge du Lac are lower on both denominations.
The pay tables for 5¢ is 6/5/4/3/1/1 around 97.69 %
The pay table for 10¢ is 7/5/4/3/1/1 around 98.61%.
Typically the lower denomination games at IOC-Lake Charles are significantly better than Lauberge du lac. Higher denomination favor Lauberge. For the example the 50-100 play 5¢ machine games area generally around 98-99% return at IOC LC
Multi-hand 5¢ play: Multi-hand 5¢ play:
Isle of Capri -Lake Charles L'Aubeurge du Lac
DW: 15/9/4/4/3/2/1/1 = 98.91; DW 25/16/13/4/3/2/1 = 96.77
DW Bonus 13/4/3/3/1/1 = 98.8; DW Bonus 10/4/3/3/1/1 =97.36
DDB 9/6/4/3/1/1 = 98.98; DDB 7/5/4/3/1/1 = 96.17
Super Aces 7/5/4/3/1/1 = 98.69 Super Aces 6/5/4/3/1/1 = 97.77
SDB 8/5/4/3/1/1 = 98.69 SDB 6/5/4/3/1/1 = 96.87
TDB 9/6/4/2/1/1 = 98.16 TDB 8/5/4/2/1/1 = 95.97
BTW: the multi-hand 5¢ machines are located at Lauberge du lac's bars. You generally have to fight for a machine since the local youngster play 1 hand/ 1 5¢ at a time to buy access to the bar drinks. They are often there for hours risking $5-10 @ 5¢/hand all night so they can get drinks.
