Oh E, I forgive you because you are probably still on meds from a rough day! HOW are you doing now? I am glad that is behind you!

I can understand - its confusing at best as I often travel to Canada to go fishing.  Here are two Canadian websites I visit to make sure I cross over Smoothly!:Check out what is allowed and restricted: http://www.canadawelcomesyou.net/Here is another in depth one from the Canadian Government: http://www.beaware.gc.ca/english/toce.shtmlThere is a whole section devoted to food.....just follow the link.Garfield.....

Garfield, Welcome to forum and your very first post! Thank you! I found the links interesting. Even some kinds of dog food cannot be taken to Canada and potatoes have to be processed or canned! I do understand that control is necessary to keep from introducing blights, insects and diseases that could wipe out a product that people count on producing/selling for their income. "all it takes is one bird" is mentioned, in one of those links. We had no problem taking our grapes, baby carrots and clementines OVER to Canada. It was what was left over on our return trip to the states that infuriated the border guard! It was about $3 of food that could fit on one hand that could have resulted in fines of $18, 900ish.  Innocence of the law is usually NEVER a good excuse, unless you luck out with an understanding judge! We gave our friends a coupon good for two free nights at Windsor under their friends and family program. The gal said she would be taking veggies. That guilted me into saying I would be taking grapes, carrots and clementines. One evening we pooled our meager food stash for a mini snack buffet on our desk in our room. I tried in vain to get her to take our food back to their room. The next time I return from Canada, I fully expect to have our car searched. They keep records either by name from passports or license plates so they can keep track of major trouble makers like ourselves and step on them the next trip! They know at a glance of their computer exactly how many times and when we have been to Canada recently! We best have the right answers when they ask questions!
