Half Price Gas
As gas prices soar around the country, I figured out a "system" for buying my gas at a cheaper price.
Yesterday, I went to fill my car. I pay cash, so here in FLA, you have to prepay. I gave the clerk $40, hoping it was enough. My tank was full at $38.
FLA has scratch-off lottery tickets, which I never play. This time, instead of taking my $2 change in cash, I bought a $2 scratch-off. Did the scratching, and won $4. I traded that for two $2 tickets. One was a loser, but the other one was a $20 winner. I cashed that, and took the $20.
So, after giving the clerk my initial $40 for gas, I got $20 of it back, along with my full tank of gas. I now have a streak of One using this system, and I plan to use it next time that I buy gas at these crazy prices. I hope that I have a Lucky Larry-type of streak (or was it his wife?), and this continues for a few months.
If you would like to use my "system", feel free - no charge.

One heck of a system. Remember to put the $20 from the lottery on next years taxes.

Will you go to the same station and same exact pump and buy the same scratch-off?

It will probably be the same station, since that is where I usually buy gas (the clerk is cute ). As far as the rest, can't be sure of the pump, and I already forgot what type of scratch-off game that was..

billyjoe,
I played next to a mom and daughter earlier this week with a wonderful lottery story. Mom tells me how she went and got gas at Walmart and bought 4 -$5 scratch offs. Third one was for $500. Said she called her daughter and asked her if she wanted to go gambling. Both of them enjoyed a night of hitting Super Aces multiple times while I watched in amazement.....

Several years ago I went on New Year's Day to get gas and bought a one dollar lottery ticket. I won $2 and asked for the two dollars but the cashier did not understand and gave me two more tickets. The lady behind me bought five of the same tickets. I won $100 on one of the tickets. The lady got mad and said, "That $100 is MINE! You asked her for money and those tickets would have been mine. So give me the $100." I
took a walk and left and went on home.
