Heck, even if it's not true, it's more interesting reading posts like
those, than having people not post because they are afraid that others
will post that they may be fibbing now and then. His point, which I agree with is that full time pros will always have stories that can top recreational players...and that deflates their sense of accomplishment. It's not a level playing field.I really do agree, and I have no desire to one-up everybody.~FK

Frank, let's forget about the stories and how I took them for a moment. Starting with a clean slate. (but I'd still like to know the odds of hitting those two unbelievable win bunches) i think you live in vegas right? You said you play at least 6 hours every day and you say you've been doing so for over 20 years. You also said somewhere where you've won for each of the last 22 or 23 years, I think I'm correct on that. Your radio partner B. Dancer also says he wins every year.  My mind gets confused easily so indulgence please. i read time and again about how most or all of the good plays are gone these days, and of the few that are left the pros jump on them like there's no tomorrow. I would too if that were my thing. i also read about how people know of high quality players like you both are banned or barred or cut back on such plays. So then how, if all this is correct, can a player such as yourself or BD continually go back to casinos you've pounded? If you're winning wouldn't they stop you after so many beatdowns? 20 years seems like a very long time for every day play, and there are only so many casinos to go around. Could you name one play that's going on now which is in your range of playable? i promise i won't go there and win it away from you.

I have been barred a few times, but not recently and only twice for something gambling related. There isn't as much heat for playing high progressives. It's the advantage players that play mostly non-progressives that casinos really don't like. I believe Bob is barred from a lot of places. You'd have t ask him.The M now has extremely good progressives with 4% meter-rise that should get heavily in the payers favor on a regular basis. There are a few others, but my partners would kill me if I shared them. The biggest reason for my long winning streak is that I never play alone. I always partner with at least 3 other people and the sheer volume of play evens things out. I have had years where had I been playing alone I would have booked a loser, but I was not, so I didn't. Pro gambling is a lot safer when done as a team or small group. It also becomes indistinguishable from a job in this format. I don't say things like, "I'm going to play VP". I say, "I'm off to pull a shift".Does that answer your questions?~FK

B. Dancer also says he wins every year. I believe Bob had one losing year. I'll ask him on-air. Still not a bad record for someone that plays alone mostly.Bob frequently plays things I consider unsafe. Positive but very risky. Good foutune has thus far been kind to him, I think.~FK

To backsider. I completely agree with everything you said in your last post and you now have me feeling very guilty for chiming in at all.I'll avoid threads like this in the future, thanks entirely to your good advice and counsel. All I can say to apologize, is my stories were not stories of exceptional luck. They were stories bread from the unavoidable consequence of  a life spent button pushing. Do anything enough (too much) and odd things become common. If you don't have similar stories, it only means you are a better man than I.Therefore "Envy" would not be the appropriate emotion, "pity" is a better fit. They say if you left a bunch of chimps in a room with a typewriter long enough, they would by accident write the works of Shakespeare eventually. Well I'm one of the chimps and I think I just finished Hamlet's Soliloquy.I'm off to oppose a sea of troubles.Tell PRO stories only to other PROS. (Check! lesson learned) Cheers,~FKFrank, you are far more gracious to detractors than anyone I've ever seen that is challenged on these fora.  I think you apologize way too often.  Please don't apologize to me in response; it's totally unnecessary, but just the type of irony that I've become accustomed to expect from you.  I would be much more entertained by a well thought out and worded comedic rebuttal.  I'm just as accustomed to your ability to parry.

While he says he wins he never seems to be barred from playing at them. Is this a case of using multiple identities/slot cards or is it something we can't discuss? Because added all up it sure does not make any sense to a nominal player as me. i just can't gather how someone can win for many years running at the casinos then never get stopped, and believe me if he were barred he'd write it in big bold letters in his columns.

I really wasn't trying to be gracious. If I think I'm right, I will argue my point. I thought his objections were valid and I agreed with him.Folks like myself with 25,000,000+ hands shouldn't be sparing and sharing stories with recreational players. It's not fair. And it's not needed. I'd much rather be remembered for being funny than some silly hands I got once.I promise I'll rebutt if it's warranted. I didn't see this as one of those occasions. Plus, I have very little ego left to bruise, it was shattered some years ago; and all the King's horses and all the King's men cannot put the pieces together again.Anyway, if I apologize too much, I apologize. Opps...I meant to say, I am totally unrepentant for my apologetic nature. Deal with it!!!
Now if you'll all excuse me I have to get ready for my weekly D&D game. It's my only other chance to talk to "normal folk".~FK

[QUOTE=New2vp]And I can't imagine that Frank thinks people will buy more of his books simply because he had a great hour (or a great 6-hand run) once in his life.

You are correct. It would never occur to me that a tale of stupid luck would increase sales.

For the record: I believe less than 1% of my sales have come from forum posting.

The fact that I have a book for sale has nothing to do with my posting. I do it for the exact same reasons you all do and one of my own.

Pro gambling is a very lonely profession. It's nice to talk to other people every now and then.

I gamble for a living. I post purely for recreation!

Folks like myself with 25,000,000+ hands shouldn't be sparing and sharing stories with recreational players. It's not fair.FAIR!!?? What's that got to do with anything?  Most stories about luck, good or bad, are intrinsically not about fairness.  "Fair" means everyone gets average hands.  If results in video poker were fair (like change machines that gave back 98 or 99 cents for each dollar), very few would play...and they would not play very long.I meant to say, I am totally unrepentant for my apologetic nature. Now, that's a turn of phrase that's particularly clever.  I like it!

BOOPS, I do too and i'm a rank amateur compared to these guys. I just can't come to grips with 5 out of 6 hands being four deuces, let alone 6 RF's in an hour. Doesn't that sound just a little off-kilter to you? Why are the math people not posting the odds on these claims? It would be interesting to see.
