Very Lucky First Timer
I had an incredible run recently at The Isle Casino in Pompano Beach,Florida.I rarely go to casinos anymore,as my income has taken a hit recently,but decided to try a few bucks at the quarter VP machines.I put $20 in and about the 10th hand hit four 3s. I expected 125 coins and was shocked to see 2000 credits. I checked out the game and saw it was a TDB game,which I had never played before.Not crazy about chasing quads,but decided to continue. Within one hour,I hit for the quad cycle. Aces,2s,3s,4s,all with the kicker,I assume.I say assume because I did not know that a small kicker was needed,as each quad paid the bonus amount.I was in shock,as I started with $20 and walked out with over $2500. I am curious if this is as incredibly lucky as I think it is,or do the veterans here see this sort of thing happen regularly?Will try posting my aces picture.

Welcome to forum FSUatdt! Congrats on your great hits and beautiful picture. I prefer to play TDB, as of the past year, and have had amazing luck. I hit a royal at Odawa casino in northern Michigan the first time I played TDB on 3 play. This year, at Greektown, I was dealt aces on a five play TDB .25 machine and three connected with that kicker for $3, 400. hand pay. We had just arrived at the casino and I had only played a few hands. Last Thursday, on my first trip to newish Gun Lake casino, about 20 miles SE of Grand Rapids, we were ready to leave. I recouped my losses and took a bundle home when I hit an awak on .50 TDB for $2K. It was one of those times when I was losing hope and was ready to quit gambling, again. New inspiration! No need to call that number, yet! IF one is new to TDB, practice on the training on this site first. (Or Bob Dancers Win Poker or wizardofodds.com if they carry the game you wish to learn) so you can play more advantageously. I go to "play video poker" top left, then triple play and click on training at the top of the screen. The traffic signal shows up on the right of the screen. On trainer, I am not concerned with my score but focus on perfect play. Training has really helped my game and is a good warm up/refresher before heading for a casino! Do yourself a favor and LEARN any game before you try playing it in a casino!

I was wondering what you thought about the Gun Lake casino, did you like it? You had a good win congrats, but will you go back. We have been there several times and I am not sure yet if I like it that well. We are heading to Little River tomorrow for a few day, have a free room so thought we would go try our luck or not so luck. I really do like Little River the best I think. Fire Keepers is just that, they keep it all!

TY, mendon. The jury is still out as to my feelings on Gun Lake casino after our first visit. I was losing rapidly and badly for a few hours until it was time to leave. I had fonder thoughts of the casino when I hit $2K awak, TDB. It had machines and games I like and a decent small food court. I asked the attendant to take out state taxes. State taxes have to be paid and cannot be written off like Fed. taxes. She was adamant that they only take out FEDERAL taxes and not state. True, it is a Native American casino but they should still take out state taxes at the time of the win, if we ask. Any input on that? That was news to me. Has anyone else experienced this with Native American casinos? Since our son no longer lives in the direction of Gun Lake, we may not make it there again soon, if ever. Five other great casinos are in closer proximity.Little River has been sending us monthly offers of free rooms, etc for many years until May. I called last week for a comped room. They said I had 400 points and needed 2K points for a room. Ergo, we hit Gun Lake on the way home from an UPNORTH visit instead of driving considerably further to Little River. I like everything about Little River except the machines, distance, my lack of big hits and no comp room.We have only hit FIREKEEPERS once, shortly after they opened. I did like the place and walked out $900 ahead. Nice place, decor, buffet, flat waterfall AND machines I like to play. Again, it is more a matter of good casinos nearer to our home.

I have never won big enough to know about the state taxes so don't know on that one, hope to someday LOL as far as the machines, Fire Keepers has alot of machines that I really like, and then Little River has alot of the same machines at a lower max play,. I guess they all have pluses and minuses..... We did play in your area a few years age when our daughter was in Provience hospital though I can"t say much about them because we did'n't get to spend much time there as we were at the hospital most of the time, quite a stressful time and couldn't really enjoy the time spent in the casino, but what I can remember I did like the MGM. What gets me is that we go to the Fire Keepers quite often as it is only 45minute drive and we get very little from them in free play. Little Rivers sends us each 2 free rooms and a least 50 dollars in free play and we go maybe 5 times a year. Fire Keepers is really bad in the promotion department. Maybe it is time to give up, but I love to go...........sick puppy I is lol

mendon,
A couple of suggestions that might help your comps. You may already do these but they should help.
Contact a host/marketing and find the guidelines for comps;
A. Find out how the comp program works;
1) Find out the official "play day" ( eg. from 2:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.) is the 24 hour period when points are accumulated for that day.
2) Find out how many points you need to accumulate to be offered the comps you want.
3) do multiplier days apply to VP?;
4) does VP require more coin-in (like $20 VP vs $10 slots) to earn the same comp points? (usually the case);
5) are comps based on the past 3 months average play, six months average play?
6) can partners combine their accounts or play on each other's cards?
B. Try to find out how "Average Daily Play" is determined. (Usually coin played / over the "play day" ) X a certain number of trips or certain time frame say 6 months.
C. Once you learn the casino rules/guidelines it is easier to game the system to your advantage.
Considerations:
1) We both play on one card. We rotate using each other's cards on alternating trips or we play repeatedly on one person's cards trip after trip until we reach the level we want. Then we'll switch over and help the other person qualify. This way at least one of us is guaranteed to get extra comps.
2) We try not to play beyond the "play day". If we are going to only play a small amount the next day, we use a family members card instead of our own. Helps them get comps and keeps us from messing up our Average Daily Play.
3) if multiplier days are allowed take advantage of them.
4) if you bring friends or family we ask them to consider playing on our cards to repay us.
Wish you best luck. Know the system - play the system.

FSU, welcome to forum. No, it's not the norm and you were lucky. TDB plays at a slightly higher volatilty than the normal JoB or BP games do.
