I got the itch so I went to Harrah's
Having decided to take a bit of a hiatis from gambling I went and did the Disney thing with the family. This past weekend I decided to get back to Harrah's AC and keep working Towards 7 stars level. I usually go on Sunday nights as it is less crowded and I get my STP machines especially as the evening wares on. Everything before midnight was a loser. As a matter of fact I basically poured my entire bankroll in and had to wait until 12:00 in order to reload. After that, things started to pop. Here are the pics. I just looked at the details on the pics. The times were 12:15, 12:51, 1:24, 2:12, 3:37 & 4:28. A steady streak of winning right through the night. After 5am the machines got cool. As usual I kept pouring, but decided to call it a night. The good thing this trip is that I took all but 2 of them as checks and brought back a large amount of it. This is a departure from what I normally do... My wife was a bit shocked when I handed her the checks. Something else that I observed and actually directed my play based... Once I hit the RF on the 3 play I played a bit longer but the game was not paying. Staying at the same machine, I switched to 5 play, hit my jackpot and switched to 10 play and hit my jackpot. Any attempts to continue playing the same game were cool. I know some will say, random but I felt like I Hit each game and moved on to the next. At least it worked that way for me. Disregard the 200,000, that's just the progressive showing. What I hit for was the 3k on the wheel. It actually took me a while to figure out what I had won. First, the machine made no noise whatsoever when I was playing it so I had no audible clues. I didn't even know I had a "wheel" if it were'nt for the "spin" button lighting up and flashing. The display said "call attendant" and the other display said something like 120 credits. Never did it say 3,000 It was a $25 dollar machine. I don't usually play slots, but when I'm up I like to try different stuff at high denominations. This one worked out well. Took all of 3 minutes.

Don't we all know it... The "wheel" win was actually quite comical. I was totally befuddled by the lack of any sound from this machine. If I hadn't seen the dimly lit "call attendent" showing I really had no idea it was a hand pay. I just now noticed the $ sign over the 3000. I'm not used to seeing that. I was wondering around the diamond lounge and decided to play a high denom slot. I really only played 2-3 hands when I got to spin the wheel. It all happened so fast. Don't we all wish it happened that way. This one tops my last slot win which was 800 dollars. When I have a night like this (this is the second one for me) I have a little chuckle on a hand pay and remember all the times I've gone down in flames. The same attendant kept paying me and after number 4 she was chiding me to win "the big one". I'm still looking for a 16k+ hit. I had a bunch of 3OAK+big multiplier possibilities and a couple of 3A+Big Multi scenarios but none of them panned out on a high multiplier. Probably 6-7 (Holy Crap I could win 20K) scenario's. Never fails to get your heart beating. Things I'm still chasing: 1. Dealt Royal2. 16K+ Hand Pay These are my new goals. Funny thing is, I've been gambling for 15 years and only had my first hand pay last year. This year I've probably got 15-20 Hand Pays. Of course that's mostly due to my increased bankroll and propensity for half dollars and dollars. I've got a buddy who hasn't made the switch to the higher denominations nor has he put in the effort to learn the games, practice or for that matter go to the casino's. He tends to play 3 card poker, crazy 4's & blackjack. He's always asking when he's going to get a hand pay but I think he knows he's not putting himself in that position. Larry you'll never believe this but it was probably your posted pics that gave me so much inspiration to keep at it. I'm always amazed at how many pics you seem to bring back from a trip. I have to ask. To many of us, it seems like you get em every trip. Do you ever have total wash out's? I guess we never see or hear about a lackluster trip, only the big wins. I'm always working on my stratedgy and besides becoming as good at my chosen game as possible, I'm working on finding when the machines run good, playing the heck out of them (like this past trip), and then quitting when they stop paying. Many know that this has been a weak part of my game play. I played UX this trip and it wasn't giving me a thing so I stayed away from it. This for me is progress! I'm also still strugggling with a bunch of hands that I can't seem to memorize. I can't seem to get them down, but I do seem to play better (read: have better results) when I've been practicing and employ my rote learning. I'm inching up to 95-97% now and I think it's making a difference. Now if I could just make peace with my additction to playing the machines where I'm comfortable and let the pay tables drive me I'd probably do even better. I think this will in time, come. For me it's an entire learning process. Once I become proficient in one area I look to improve in a different area. I look forward to many more LL winning posts. Hopefully I can keep it up too! roveer,
Just read today's "deuces payback" and you can read about our losses before our hits last night. Luck plays a big part in hits-being dealt royals on 5 hands and then 25 hands in January or 4 Aces on first hand of SA was just pure luck, just like being dealt deuces last night.
IMO: Part of my streak this year has been 1) playing low volatility games like NSUD, Bonus and 9/6 JOB; 2) switching to 50¢ - 3/5 play from multi-hand 5¢ late last year; 3) having enough money to play through bad timing or stopping the loss early and trying something else like MH 5¢; 4) playing frequently 4-5 trips per month when we're winning. For the year, I'm still up but Sweet C is down in-spite of her 30+AWAK and 10 RF. Her preferred games DDB and TDB are extremely volatile and not as high return as my games so they can really hit the "401 G" account.
Being retired we have a limited "entertainment" budget and winning allows us to continue playing. Losses mean waiting until next month!!! Not being able to go really sucks and playing here isn't the same.
