Traditional or video slots
Do you like the traditional slots that just have the bells, fruit, and bars, or do you like the newer machines with themes and mini-games? I love the new machines. The old slots are so boring. I love the bonus rounds and mini-games. The longer the mini-game the better.

The generally accepted rule of thumb is that the old, boring slots -- especially those with 2- or 3-coin-in maximums where the top jackpot is not too much higher than the rest of the payouts -- will pay out more often. But I've been known to drop a buck or five into some of the newer models; in fact I recently made a fairly good hit on a South Park machine. When I do that I tend to play max lines but only one coin/line. If you're getting more enjoyment from the bells and whistles than from the bells, fruit and bars -- and if you don't miss the money you push through 'em -- more power to ya.
But read on and you'll find there are machines in the casino that are both entertaining and potentially profitable. Try Spin Poker sometime . . .

I’ve only played the traditional slots. I’ll have to check this out though. Can you recommend a good site to see the types of slots you are mentioning?

Sorry, Boopsahoy, those sites both contain online gambling (in addition to the free play) so linking to them is not permitted.
