Does this math work?

Years and years ago when I first started playing VP and before I ever understood it was based on an unbiased RNG, I played a fair amount of short coin. I can say without any doubt that I did not get all that many RFs ... although my first RF ever was playing short coin (and it only took 4 years).

This whole discussion has been an eye opener for me.  My problem is that I keep switching denominations (or coins in play) trying for the big score. I'll play DDB quarters and as soon as I hit a quad or a run up I have a tendency to change denominations and lose my profit.  It usually doesn't work, so I kid myself into thinking I didn't hit for any other reason than the odds were against it.  If I had stayed with max quarters the whole time, I would be a lot closer to the expected payback (as poor as it is).  I'm going to Biloxi next week and stop switching denominations.  I'm a quarter player and I need to stay that way...  I'll bet I do a lot better.  At the least I should cut my losses considerably. We'll see...

Back in the day there was a mega fast progressive we played at the Frontier. To hold a seat and wait for high 4k plays you had to play 1 coin slowly so the floor people would not kick you off.I and my partners played a lot of short coin on this play.I got NO 1 coin Royals.My first partner Steve got 1 short coin RoyalMy partner Gary got 2 short coin RoyalsMy partner Dave got 6 short coin RoyalsOn the same machines I had many max coin royals. Three in one day, on one occasion. Basically we had perfectly random results with no bias either way.If you give your brain an easy plausible line of demarcation like max/short coin play to latch on to, it will interpret normal random variation as a pattern and you will see faces in the clouds.The only way not see faces in the clouds is not to look for them.If you seek you shall find, (anything but the truth).~FKP.S. I read your post "Climbing Everest Naked" and I loved it.  While your vocabulary is sometimes a little over my head, your thought process is not.  As a retired computer programmer, I consider myself a logical person and possibly a little more intelligent than your average VP player.   I have been trying to find logic in randomness and gain some kind of edge over it.  I see now that this is impossible and my new path is clear.  I will accept that negative expectation games are just that, will try my best to make the correct plays and stop attempting to outplay the numbers on the front of the machine.  Thanks!

The only other way, Phil, is to figure out a way to re-program the RNG.

In my personal experience, I have observed many, many more full coin royals than short coin ones.
