I love playing poker and just got into play video poker because friends of mine are building a video poker game for facebook! Is there anywhere that I can see the math involved? I like poker cause i like calculated gambling...is this possible with video poker?!

I like poker cause i like calculated gambling...is this possible with video poker?!Yes it is possible to calculate just about everything to do with Video Poker down to the last decimal place using combinational math. (NOT STATISTICS). If you took statistics, you should already have the basics, as it is taught as a subset of statistics, even though it is a very separate type of math. I do have a breakdown of simple VP math in my book, but it's not enough to get you from nothing to expert, if you have no previous experience with such equations. I would be very happy to recommend a book to you that was not mine, except I know of no other book that goes into actual VP math, with examples, and explanations of strategy generation and game return calculation.Wait and see if anyone recommends another book. I'm obviously biased!!! You did ask for the math, and my book certainly has it. Too much, if you ask most people.~FKP.S. Billyjoe was quite right to warn you that opinions differ. You have the people that know math really well on one side, and the people that don't know the math well on the other (they may think they do). One side believes what the equations say, the other side doesn't.I'll let you guess, which side is which!I'm still trying to figure out how people can be 100% sure something is wrong, without fully understanding it. Perhaps it is like the Aesop fable of the Fox and the Grapes. What cannot be reached is clearly not worth reaching.

You have the people that know math really well on one side, and the people that don't know the math well on the other side (they may think they do). One side believes what the equations say, the other side doesn't. This is mostly due to misconceptions about what "expectation" means.I'll let you guess, which side is which!I'm still trying to figure out how people can be 100% sure something is wrong, without fully understanding it. Perhaps it is like the Aesop fable of the Fox and the Grapes. To avoid feeling inferior, people convince themselves that what cannot be reached is clearly not worth reaching.

Nice... have fun, I wrote a Windows version of VP about 10 years ago and had a great time programming all the different scenarios.
