Progressive betting, for entertainment only
Sometimes I like to play on a 20-credit nickel machine with some stupid strategy. It's doomed to fail, but it allows me to play for a while, it's entertaining, and it can allow for some occasional big wins.
Basically, I bet one. If I win that hand, I play my win plus one. So basically, 400 credits ($20) guarantees me 400 hands, because I only add one credit per hand. This system depends on multiple consecutive wins. It tempers my play, but at the same time it's exciting.
For example, let's say I play 1 credit and get a three of a kind. My next bet I play 4 (3 + 1). Perhaps I get a Full House on my next hand, which on 4 credits on my Double Bonus machine pays 36 (9 x 4 credit wager). As a rule, if I win more than 20 credits, I start back at betting 1. Frequently enough to my satisfaction I win a $20 hand. When I play Double Double I sometimes win $50 or $100. It's fun. Not a sustaining cycle, but it's still fun. There are certainly disappointments. Winning $2.50 for a one credit four of a kind sucks. But then, winning that same amount for a 10 credit straight is exciting. So it's fun that lasts a while. After all, even betting max won't win in the long run on a negative expectation machine.

Sigh. I was JUST playing that way using the games on this site (betting up to 5 credits) and got a 250 credit royal flush. So, you know, there are disappointments. lol.

I think progressive betting is fun to and when I've played games like BJ or craps at home with my family for fun, I engaged in progressive betting as well. Once when I was eight I won $128,000 from my dad playing blackjack in the car driving through Germany. I was doubling up on every bet and won like 11 hands in a row. Pity it wasn't real money. You put, "for entertainment only" in the title of your post, so I guess there's no need to lecture on the real long term effects of progressive betting.Have fun...
