Even if they have accumulated a bankroll one way or another, many players do not have the stomach for big up and down swings. I do. It is one of the secrets to my success.
Bob
I am glad that my wife doesn't have the stomach. She seems to get stuck on the down swings.
I guess she will never be a raving success at VP, but I still love her after 32 years.

Heres another one of those out-of-touch statements, and one which Frank should pounce upon but he wont. Its more bravado and chest-pounding in front of an audience that this guy feels so superior over. My dad too had the "stomach" for the up an down swings as a soldier on the battlefield which he thought was the secret to his success in fighting for his country....until he was shot and killed. Bragging about having a stomach for something like the all important video poker swings only makes these proclamations less believable.

Sorry folks, this was added in response to the comment at the bottom of page 1. I thought that was the end of the thread. It clearly ranged far afield after its beginning re: scouting and progressives.

Chances are, the casino moved some money onto that prog. I ran into a similar situation two weeks ago, when three freestanding quarter machines each had about $8,000 added to them. Two were single-line 97% Super Bonus Deuces Wild, and one was a suited royal 8-5 DDB (the money was added to the royal in Hearts). As I recall, the DW was at about +12%.
I'm happy to say I hit one of the DW progs for $9215. I played 30 hours on the second one, but someone else hit it at over $10,200.
This casino also added money to the 5-of-a-kind on several nickel Deuces and Jokers wild machines, but the game was so bad to start with (91% wow!) that it wasn't positive even with the additional money.

I had been told that, when a casino decides to take out some machines that have a progressive jackpot, they have to add the incremental progrogressive amount to the remaining machines. That may be what had happened in the cases you described.
