Re: IRS and Win/Loss Statements
backsider you politely asked me to stop the negative stuff and I will abide by your request if you follow the same.
I agree, but are you afraid of telling shadow that also?

Backsider that is the second time in the last day you have done that. Last night it was New and myself. Today it is Ted and SM. New is this one of those deflection/ reflection things you are talking about?

Ted, how about his mean-spiritedness of picking on me for using or not using apostrophes? I know you more agree with him than you do with me on video poker ways, but whats good for one is good for all when it comes to stopping the negative stuff. Fair is fair.

I can't control the actions of other people on this forum, only my own.

Well I guess you cant. At least you didnt disagree. edog why are you getting involved? I understand why shadow poked fun because when at the end of the rope, why not make a personal attack? I know YOU, however, have a great sensitivity to that type of thing. Please dont get New involved here again as he already knows no one reads his dissertations, and all well get is another set of confusing mea culpas directed towards Frank anyway.

Backsider - it's a beautiful day here in Las Vegas. Put down the keyboard for a few and go enjoy something other than the computer screen. Get your group together and explore something new - like the M. Have you been there yet? Today it's their seafood buffet - it's always good. If you play enough, you might get a free buffet comped. Their players club gives away pretty nice gifts to locals too. I'd even dust off my I love Videopoker.com shirt to wear if I knew you were going - so you could see me coming from a distance.... (don't worry, I'd just say hello - no growling involved). Ok, I meant this as a friendly olive-branch from one poster to another. A chance to say hello. An idea for something to do. (I was not demanding you stop posting or even suggesting.) I'm heading out to a wonderful buffet - where I can happily eat my weight in crab legs and top it off with a few incredible desserts. Good luck to everyone. And sticking with the original topic - here's hoping everyone gets a W-2G form today, and tomorrow....

Thanks mighty, but whenever we go out its not up to me since Im more of a burden than the others here. Im also on-call 24/7 till the end of the month.
Ive been to the M once and liked it but its a long way from here. When we go out there always has to be a designated driver and no one wants to do that. Were all in intelligence but you wouldnt be able to tell that if you ran into us.

A few years back, I rec'd notice from the IRS asking for documentation for the losses I used to offset my reportable winnings on my tax return. I always record the amount I start with, any adds (from ATM withdrawals, etc),and what I actually have in my pocket at the end of my trip.
In the case where I get a jackpot that I have to report via the W-2G, I simply include this as an addition to my bankroll. When I end my trip, I see how much cash I actually have left. The balance (+ or -), is my net win/loss.
I provided this to the IRS on a spreadsheet, and shortly thereafter, they responded that this was sufficient to back up my gambling losses.
I learned not to NOT include and W-2G winnings on my return as they WILL find out. I missed a $1200 win one year and my state (MA) came after me for the 5% tax ($60!!!) three years later.

Thanks for the response, JWF. I have sent them copies of my Win/Loss Casino statements, so we will see if that is enough for the IRS.
