$75K Video Poker Tournament

Post by Miller77 »

Checked my Total Rewards offers and see that I was offered an entry into a $75000 Video Poker Tournament at Harrah's in July. It also included 3 free nights at Harrahs or Imperial Palace. Has anyone heard of this or received the same offer? I tried to research it online and was not able to find anything. I just got back from Vegas and want to plan another trip - I have lots of comped nights. Is this offer worth it? CM

I think there is ... I'm playing in one at Rio at the end of April. Just call up Harrah's and ask about it. The tourney offers are usually pretty good since they guarantee you some free play or a gift card up front and if you play fast enough, you can cash in the tourney as well. I've played in 4-5 VP events and cashed more than half the time.

Thanks for the reply. Since I have reached platinum status with my Total Rewards, I was able to contact a host. I got some more of the details and it looks alright to me. Three free nights, entry into the Tourney and $50 in free play. Looks like the top 200 people get money, based on 800 entering. Good luck with yours Tomcat. Let us know how you do. Any idea what game it is? Do you pick or do they? CM

I just spoke with an ex. casino host at Harrah's Las Vegas. Apparently, they do pay great attention to this particular web site and I hope I can finally get an answer to my questions about comping for Platinum and Diamond members. I have been a platinum member for 3 years and a diamond for 1. During my Diamond period, I got to stand 1 time in a the special Buffet line (whoopee) and eat in the Diamond Lounge at St. Louis, (which was great). Other than that, zippo! She told me she would check into why I can't get a slot host in St. Louis (they told me that they didn't have hosts) and why I can't even get a dinner comped, except with my points. When I was at the Taj in A.C. I had the best host and was always given a suite during the week and dinners whenever. I know they have changed that, but jeez, you'd think they could spring for a dinner after popping in $400 bucks. Keep up the Forum chatter here, because they do pay attention.

I have been a 7Star for several years, and my wife has been diamond. We get besieged with calls from Harrah's/Caesars properties all over the country because of that status.

My experience has been that comps are VERY property-specific. It is harder, for example, to get comped in Vegas in lieu of using TR Credits, but at a casino like Tunica or Southern Indiana, the hosts will work with you. Some properties have relinquished hosts altogether, and have gone to VIP Customer Service folks, who have very little discretion or power. Don't be afraid to ask for a Host Manager at a property, and ask, given your play, what can be done. I have even used the GM at several properties to get what I thought was fair, so don't be shy. They are there for the player - that is there only reason for being.

Vegas is the only place that I play to earn Total Rewards and receive comps all the time for rooms. After logging in, I go to reservations and they are all listed. If it is not comped, there is a rate posted for what the room is going for. Was in Vegas last week and stayed two nights at the Imperial Palace in a Deluxe King Suite on Saturday and Sunday night on NASCAR weekend, two nights at Caesars Palace in a Forum Tower Room and my last night at Planet Hollywood. I could have stayed at Harrahs, Flamingo, or Ballys as well. Maybe if you contact a host from Vegas, they would be able to help you out somewhere else. CM PS = I also have comped rooms offered at Harrah's in Laughlin as well. Might head there for a night in July when I am there for my VP tournament.
