Below are my hits for my most recent trip to Harrah's AC.  I have to say that I really worked hard for these hits and almost had a complete train wreck on Monday morning.  I usually sit for a while on my way out and this time I found myself feeding a lot more into the machines than I ever thought I would.  I ended up staying for most of the day and I pretty much got lucky and was able to win all of my money back that I fed during the day.  Machines had a real "personality" on this trip.  Couldn't catch quad aces to save my life while the lady sitting next to me was getting them dealt on 5 line and complaining about not getting her kicker. 2's were non existant but at one point last night I hit quads twice in 15 minutes.  Had a couple of droughts and a few spells of non-existant multipliers and as you'll see even played dollar UX.  I have to admit, I think UX might actually be evil.  Part of my train wreck came at UX.  Luckily it all worked out and I came home with a bunch of cash.
 
Something I've come to understand about my play over my past two trips, Vegas and AC.  I really like to play the game, but I also really like winning and keeping the money.  I'm noticing that the games I play (STP & UX) at the denominations I play them fall into a particular bankroll range for me.  it either happens within a certain amount of cash or it doesn't.  I've had my  best nights at the low end of my bankroll and my worst results when I just keep getting more money and chasing.  I've also noticed that the past two trips I've made a very consious effort to preserve my bankroll and notice when things are not working out.  Sounds like a logical thing to do, but in practice it's not that easy.  I've noticed that my TR Tier credit balance is going up much more slowely in the past two trips.  Last year I was having 17,000 point trips (10 hand STP dollars non-stop), now I'm lucky if I surpass 8k.  This is due to the fact that I am really modulating my denomination and number of hands.  I play a lot more 5 hand .50 and dollar and still manage some pretty good results.  Coming home with 100+% profit is great and machine time will eventually bring the bigger hits as well.  I'm hoping this change in strategy will prove to be correct over the long run.  I've yet to abondon a trip all together when things are not working out, but the preservationist in me is starting to lean in that direction.  Enough of my rambling and here are the pics.  Enjoy

A question for you - how many hands do you start with when you're playing dollar ten play STP? I play mostly quarters and 50 cents, but have sometimes gotten killed on dollar triple play STP.

Money management is so key in VP, but especially in volatile games like STP and UX. You can find yourself way down a bad road in a hurry. Kudos to you for recognizing the dangers, and working to minimize damages.
Now, if I could only teach my wife this..

I usually start at the 5 hand .50 cent denom with 6-8 hundred dollars.  When I'm playing dollar 10 hand I usually start with 1200 dollars. 
 
I've really been getting in the habbit of getting away from a machine when 1/2 my buy-in is gone but I will usually abondon a higher denom before that or lower the hand count if nothing much is happening.  With these games you sometimes have to get away from a machine or you might just have to play through the drought.  It's a feel your way kind of thing.
 
You really have to make sure you are properly banked for these games as it always seems like your heading straight downhill when you start.  I bet some people might think I sit down at a machine and just start drawing hand pays.  No such luck.  I often wait hours and hours before I see a hand pay and I've gone whole trips without one.  I am also very careful not to get going too fast in my play.  I'm very deliberate and "gap" my deal draws.  I do this for several reasons.  I have a particular feeling that fast play can lead to less desirable hands and fewer multipliers.  I'm sure there's nothing to it, but I find I have a particular speed at which I operate (to the point that if I play fast my friend has commented that "you not going at your regular slow pace").  This seems to produce results.  The second reason is more obvious, my burn rate is lower.  Dont' get me wrong, I'm still 60 bucks every few seconds, but I'm not that speed demon, button slapper that we all know and love.  I guess that's the third reason I don't do it.
