Hello All. Recently I went on a bit of a VP binge and ran thru most of my allotted VP bankroll - 3k more or less. Towards the end of the session, I asked my host if I had any free play avail. She gave me $200 in credits. At the time I asked for it, I was playing BlackJack and intended to convert the freeplay into chips. I was quite disenchanted with my VP on the day to say the least.
Anyway... I was in the high limits room to inquire about the conversion to chips. I was directed to go elsewhere in the casino to accomplish that, so I started to exit the high limit room. Ahhh... not so fast grasshoppa ... Gravity pulled me to a DDB machine with denoms of $2 -$5 -$10 - $25. I figured.. let's give this a try real quick to see if lady luck was smiling. I stood and played a few hands of $2 DDB and was instantly surprised by two dealt 3OK which missed on the draw... but still had my full attention. I also converted a few pairs into 3OK and then hit a full house. At that point I pulled the chair out and sat down. This machine was asking me to stay )))
Overt the next 5 minutes I had some similar hands to keep my interest, but slowly the free play dwindled from $200 down to $130. That's when I was dealt A-4-A-4-A.... a full house with three aces. i thought about the hand for a moment and for a nano second considered taking the 45 credits. Opportunity was knocking though... so I held the 3 aces and dumped the 4's. I also thought about holding one of the 4's for a kicker.... but I decided a 2 card draw for a single ace was my goal.
The draw came 2.................... ACE
BOOOOOOM
4k jackpot.
After a miserable day that was just getting worse playing blackjack., a free play in the high limit room paid me off )))
On the way out I sat down at the bar and nailed another 4 aces (without kicker this time) playing .50 cent denom for $400.
Just an awesome VP experience for me overall. Dumping a full house and going for the gold... and having it pay off. great great VP memory for me.
Good luck to all !
I am often faced with this except I'm usually playing 10 line dollar denom's and I'm not usually facing ACES. The FH's are a lot more money and once or twice I got burned. My trainer tells me to take the FH and run but it sure it tempting. I think the Aces would have gotten me thinking. Great story.
[EDIT] After reading your post I decided to do a little poking around with my trainer using the "pick" feature which lets me put certain hands on the screen. In fact when getting a FH with 3A's the correct hold is the ACES. While there were plenty of times where 3OAK was all I got, there were sure a lot of 4OAK's showing up and when they are with a kicker in DDB it sure is nice. I was wondering why I was wrong on my initial statement on holding the FH then I realized it's probably been quite a while since I had one with A's :(

I don't understand what makes this a miracle win. Four aces with a kicker happens every 16000 hands or so in DDB. It's a nice hit --- congratulations --- but hardly miraculous. Of course if you get 4 AWAK back to back to back, now we might be in the miraculous range. But just once? Hardly. The fact that it was on free play isn't particularly significant. The fact that it was at the end of the day isn't particularly significant. These are just incidental things that define what happened that particular day. (They had to happen SOME way.) Even if it was the first hand of the day, it still pays the same 2000 coins. Even if you were winning that day, it still pays the same 2000 coins. Bob

Yes, but this particular win caused Elvis to rise from the grave. Your lack of enthusiasm, however, killed him again.

You sure know how to deflate a person's happy feeling, Bob. You can pick it apart all you want, but I'll bet at least 80% of the rest of us could identify with the poster's feeling that this wasn't an ordinary "going for 4 AWAK" moment.

Bob, you once again have come up with an unthought-out comment to degrade what has happened to one of us little guys.
I agree with the OP, it WAS a miraculous hit, first because it was a joyously big win for the guy, and second because he had the wherewithal to go against what the sharpies would do and say so knowing he might get crucified for it. That takes guts around here. I would have done the same thing, and Im sure the majority of people here would have also.
