Why do you play the daily/monthly contest

I play for the thrill of the chase, regardless of winning.  It's nice to get on the board, but my expectations are low, I guess, so I don't get upset when better scores from others come along.  The daily and monthly contests are good exposure to games I may not otherwise play very often.  Of course, I'd love to win or just get an entry into the TOC, but I'm not gonna cry in my sweet tea or cancel gold if that doesn't happen.
 
This is a great site.  I've made many good friends here, even Billy.

Honestly i dont care much for the contests unless its a game I enjoy playing. I also only play a few rounds if I play at all. Its not that important to me because its really a contest of luck not skill. Its the person that gets dealt that OMG dream hand and honestly if its a once in a lifetime hand I rather get it in the casino! (-: I still love this site, the forum, the challenges (the shorter the better-i actually like the 50 hand ones) and the great choice of games.

I play contests for the same reasons I play VP in casinos. They provide fun, escape and therapy as a huge stress reliever. Further, there's always a glimmer of hope of hitting something big. Suffice it to say at the top of my list is whether an older, long time former neighbor will ever get out of a nursing home alive. She and her husband loved visiting casinos. She has had so much fun with lottery scratch offs to brighten her day and show her family members. It's proven a great gift idea for someone who needs nothing but good health. Since I am not a gambler, I never buy lottery tickets for myself!

 I play because videopoker.com gives me the OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY AND WIN at no cost or inconvenience to me.  How wonderful, !!!!   THANK YOU FOR THE FUN!!!   I, also, am familiar with many names and find myself HAPPY FOR THOSE WHO ARE WINNING  Sure, I wish it was me, and hope sometime it will be, but am very grateful to this site for allowing me the OPPORTUNITY to WIN AND HAVE FUN, even if it's a game on not crazy about. ,

I don't play every single day, far from it. Just when I have some time to kill. I play because it's fun, I can play something I enjoy, and there is a small chance I might actually win something. I figured that's why everyone played...

If you expect to win playing against thousands of other people, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. I consider showing up on the scoreboard a small victory, even if there's no check in the mail. It's mostly about the entertainment.

Dogger:  Been following your beef on this subject, and many others, for a long time. You've threatened to leave before for various reasons & never followed through. I think inside, you're a good man, but quick to anger & a huge cynic. I think, for your own well-being, you should maybe take a sabbatical from 'Gold', then come back with a better attitude. This site is for a fun time, and right now, you're obviously not having any fun. In the meantime, you're tending to take the fun out of it for others.
