Is this even possible... Triple Play pays 3x

Post by spxChrome »

So my local casino got bought out, they have been remodeling for months and finally over the past week decided to put new carpet in as well.  So when they did they also took the opportunity when the machines were down to change the avialable games, paytables, new games and so on.

I mean it is completly different, they just didnt replace the carpet everything has changed.  Now they no longer offer 9/7 TDB or DDD 800/5aces 10/6 Super Double bonus, double bonus + and my go to game 8/6 Super Aces.  They have went to the traditional 8/6 DDB and the Triple Bonus and Ugly Dueces, JOB.  Each machine used to offer about 12 games like shockwave, Aces$ now just these crap games.  Anyway make a long story short during this change they brought in some new Triple play machines in a circle.  You could play triple play, 5 play or 10 play. So I decided to play one bank, put it on dollars and all the games disappered.  I asked the slot guy and he said those just came up today they were still working on them. Which was obvious cause the tray was full of screws and later 2 buttons popped off the machine. But I put it on .25 and games were there but none on .50 or $1.  So I go to the 2nd machine, put it on dollars and 9/6 DDB is there.... great.  Playing triple play  dollars 15$ a game and notice out of the the corner of my eye that the AWAK says 6,000 credits.  Same goes for the 2,3,4 are now 2,400.  So looking and playing at the same time I hit a FH for 120.  Well it didn't take long to see what was going on and I have no idea how but everything is tripled.  So its like 3x the payout for triple play in the programming.  Somebody got confused and multipled the payout by 3 since the had on their mind "triple play".  But its 3 seperate hands not 3x the payout lol.  Needless to say I played this machine until I was blue in the face and about broke and never could hit on it.  Minus four Jacks which paid $750 on one of the 3 $5 lines.

So I decided to move onto another one to see if it was wacked out the same way.  But this one was the opposite.  Even though I was playing $1 triple play max credit $15 per hand.  It was only paying out as if I was playing single coin.  So it was only paying 1 for a pair and 3 for trips.  Needless to say I got off that one real quick.

But how is this even freaking possible?  Isn't the chip locked down by the gaming commission?  Can you alter pay tables without a new chip??  Does the chip control this or is it in the menu of the machine??  I can kick myself for not taking a video or picture of this but I was to busy pumping money into it.  I hope I am explaining this correctly because its like a dream come true but even with a 297% payback I couldn't win lol.

If all the pay lines were tripled it would be almost impossible to lose money. The low end of the pay table accounts for about 50% of the return. That means just hitting 3oak and lower should pay back 150%.

Sounds fishy to me.

PS. I believe most games have a mode where the pay tables can be hand set by a technician.

After seeing some strange pay tables at Isle I asked a tech who I talk to each trip about the programming pay tables. He indicated they use their lap top to set the tables from options determined by the State Gaming Commission. I'm not going to mention or question the positive mistakes.

BTW: Which casino Chrome? Biloxi?
