Re: Here's my VP strategy...
I would like to add to what I said about stiffer penalties for violations. At the company I worked for, management didn't seem to take violations very seriously until regulators began threatening executives with jail time for chronic problems. *THAT* got their attention. I'd like to see something like that for gaming.
I think the BEST approach for casinos would be to suspend operations for a set period of time. Shutting them down for just one week would be so costly that any management person found responsible for it would be out on his tail in no time.

I don't know this for a fact, but I think regulators are hesitant to do that because casinos DO pay a lot of taxes, and it would also put the casino employees on the street...they wouldn't be getting paid vacations. I'm not saying it's right, but it may be part of the thinking.
How about this? Depending on the seriousness of a given violation, the casino manager is required to spend "x" number of hours chained to whatever slot/VP machine in the casino has the worst pays, playing on his/her own money. Make the punishment fit the crime!

This is truly a fun site....I think for the most part gamblers, well VP players, are just the nicest people....I'm in the Retired set and love visiting with locals at the off strip casinos when in Vegas. Always find them to be friendly etc. So you people are convincing me that it's all on the up and up!!!
I in turn convinced my hubby, who wouldn't put one nickel into a machine, that it's all honest and fair so he's taking me to GVR again at the end of the month. He, reads, watches movies and sight sees. To me just having that driver hold up the sign with our name on it for our Limo ride to the casino is worth the trip...
I don't ever worry about my "bankroll". At my age I just take what I'm willing to throw off the highest mountain and enjoy myself. It's my reward for raising 5 kids and driving a 6 year old car. BUT now that I'm sure all the VP machines are truly run with RNG's and the regulators are lurking around and keeping the casinos honest I'll take a deep breath of smoke filled air and put another $100 in a machine, scratch all my conspiracy theories and just rely on Lady Luck....
I play almost totally by BDancer's method, except for a few plays which I'll change from time to time. Have to take a few gambles and sometimes it pays off. I've hit over 40 royals in my 20 years of playing so I must be doing something right. Of course with that said I'm probably still behind if I added up all my winnings vs. looses. But it beats golf, yachts, BMW's, Country Clubs, Expensive trips, and just about anything else I can think of that people spend money on.
As for shutting down a casion if they are cought cheating. Even gun fire didn't shut down NY NY...

I heard about that. Happened in their garage, right? If it had been in the casino itself the people playing would probably have looked up for a second or two, then continued playing.
One of the local casinos here has chronic problems with its fire alarm system going off - false alarms. When it happens, there's a recorded broadcast over the PA that says everyone should leave. That happened once while I was at their bar playing, and the bartender told me that while the casino makes employees leave, only on occasion do they walk through and ask players to leave. I looked around and didn't see many players leaving, so I stayed and played...would have left if I smelled smoke... I'm sure that's a violation of the fire code, though.

I don't think they are any different. That does not mean they do anything illegal. Just as the cereal box provides information about the product so do the casinos when it comes to VP. It's right on the machine. Of course, the casinos have been downgrading paytables everywhere. BJ is suffering from 6-5 itis and room comps, free meals, etc. are getting harder to earn. This is how casinos improve their bottom line. If we as consumers accept these changes then they will continue.

the problem is most people do not study the games or paytables so the casinos can get away with this. I play more live poker as it is easier to beat

Don't forget those ongoing reductions in point systems for cash comps, and also those lovely 2x-3x-4x points days. Getting harder for a guy to make an honest buck.
I'd LOVE to hear of any cases where a casino RAISED paytables due to lost business. They all would - if players only frequented those casinos with the better pays.

This is where you are absolutely spot on. Our friends at Harrah's started it all. When people (Even the published writers) bragged up their system, every one else saw they could get away with giving less and getting more.
