Dream Card @ Orleans;

Post by ginfre »

I'm looking for opinions, and others who might respond to those opinions, regarding this game, and the location I played the game being Orleans. I play Orleans mostly, I live nearby.  Yesterday, I was playing DDB 5-Play Dream Card at the quarter level.  They have two machines for this game, located near the Alligator Bar.   Sometimes the Dream Card is, minimally, not a very good 'Dream Card'.  Yesterday, one of the Dream Cards gave me four to a straight.  No 'automatic' point getting, if you will.  Just four to a possible, regular straight, that would not include a face card, or an ace.   Well, I played for the outside straight possibility, but was not successful in five tries.  My attitude toward a relatively innocuous card, given that there is a premium paid for the hand, whether or not I even see a Dream Card offering, is that this Dream Card was NOT a Dream Card.   What is your opinion, fellow VP players?  Thanks

Just got back from 5 day stay at the Orleans, played those Dream Card Machines for about 10 minutes, and had absolutely no luck.  I don't think the Dream Card pops up enough to make it worth the extra expense.  That is just my opinion, I haven't studied the paytable to see what percentage payback it gives (i am sure that info would be available somewhere). In reference to the dream card, the card transforms into the statistically best card in relation to the other 4 cards that are dealt.  If all the dealt cards are below jack high, of course it would have to be a card that would connect to provide a possible straight or possible flush. an open end straight would give you 8 possibilities to catch the straight, a 4 card flush would give you 9 possibilities to catch a flush. On the otherhand, if the dream card transformed into a single high jacks or better card, you would only have 3 possiblities to match that card for your money back win. Seems like your getting screwed when you don't win with a dream card, but it happens.

If the real game plays like the game here you can change the dream card it deals you.

Yes, thank you for the reminder, I recognize this.  I HAVE, in fact, changed the card at Riverside Casino, Laughlin, a month ago.  To no avail.

If you know the game you're playing, you'll know whether the Dream Card is the best one.  If not, change it.  Hint: The card given should result in the highest hand possible on the strategy card.i think it's obvious that the guy who invented Dream Card played a lot of Super-Times Pay.  When that game is doing its multiplier dance there's a lot of dreaming/hoping/praying going on.

If you can find a SINGLE line Version of dreamcard, play that game instead of the multi line fiascoes that are out there.   Single line Dreamcard Bonus Poker Deluxe, with a full house paying 8 coins per unit bet, is a game that you can play fairly long provided you start with enough money ($400-500) and you should turn a small profit a decent percentage of your playing sessions, maybe even a big profit if you get hot!     Everyone else always points out Deuces Wild Dreamcard as the safest game, but i dont agree.   True, the THEORETICAL expected return on dreamcard deuces wild is the highest percentage, but you will hardly ever win anything significant unless you hit a royal or you get lucky and hit quad deuces 2 or 3 times in fairly quick succession.      With Bonus Poker deluxe however, with its 400 coin payout on ANY four of a kind, you usually will be able to put together enough quads to accumulate 200-300 dollars or more in profit at some point in your session.   Quads come up fairly often in Dreamcard Bonus Poker and Bonus poker deluxe.....and the full houses that I mentioned earlier are crucial because for every draw where you are trying to turn your triples into quads, you have a good chance of catching a pair and ending up with a full house instead of the quads. Try it......and AVOID the multi line versions of Dream card (and Quick Quads too....only play single line quick quads)

Riverside in Laughlin has SL Dreamcard, a bank of four.  You didn't mention where this SL version might be located in Vegas, know of any Casinos?  I'm taking a break from playing, trying to gain a little perspective on the VP thing.  I'm thinking I'm becoming deranged by all these 'fiascos", as DaBurglar has adroitly pointed.  I don't want to sit down with a bunch of smelly tobacco consuming individuals at a 10-12 person poker table, lol--I'd die from secondary inhalation, let's leave it at that as the reason why I would not want to do that, but I am thinking of game planning a strategic effort toward table games the upcoming year.   It is HARD to win at VP, consistently, that is winning more than losing and enjoying the challenge, but it CAN be done.  But I want to see if the application of how I bet and what I play in VP can be applied to Baccaret, as an example.  Or, another.  Finally, if I see another pair of big jumping dice I think I'm going to scream.

DreamCard is often a game that is available on Five Star Poker machines. On these machines, the games are single-line versions of some of the popular multi-line games.
On my last Vegas trip, there were Five Star machines @ Caesars and Harrahs on The Strip.

I wasnt speaking about Vegas, I was talking Atlantic city in terms of dreamcard machines.....the single line games are at Caesars AC and are indeed 5 star machines as Billiejoe says....Caesars AC has 4 such machines which are VERY tempermental, they can either payoff HUGE via single line dreamcard, or they just eat your money FAST and give you NOTHING.    I know of NO other single line dreamcard games in AC, the rest are all Multiline machines at HArrahs, and Taj mahal.   Borgota has dreamcard but I dunno what versions or type, single or multi.
