Re: Single Game vs. Multi Game
Clearly you read things as psychic at your own discretion. I use the three and out rule when I am ahead so that I don't give back my winnings. Is this psychic? Absolutely not. Just a decider on when to quit. Part of the money management aspects. You claimed that I thought I was psychic (a wild claim). That was the germane aspect to the discussion. This is basic reasoning and I know that you are smarter than this. Please don't play dumb. Is this now backed up or are you still claiming that I didn't back it up in the slightest. As to me going off the rails here is my logic:(1) You said I was making claims that inferred that I was psychic(2) I denied that I inferred this no matter how much you misread/misinterpreted my words(3) Bob S. said that you lose at VP(4) You denied his claim as you say that you never said thatDo you understand the logic or are you still stumped.Your words about saving much vitriol was because I was emptying the vitriol here as I see you appearing as having a superiority complex. If my vitriol was seen as so slight to you that is good as it was meant to be constructive criticism and definitely not as a personal thing. Lastly, you confuse facts for your interpretations of things. We all perceive things differently. What you call factual information is merely your own interpretation EXCLUDING any evidence to the contrary. Selective reasoning like selective memory can lead to erroneous statements. Here is an example:My words- I don't know anyone that can control their luck (the implication here is myself included)Your words- Hey if you're somewhat psychic, go for it (a side note here, do you consider this statement as a factual response by yourself to my aforementioned comment above?)I have given you an example of this now which I feel support my claims. If you need more convincing I am sorry but this is laid out as plain as I can make it. I don't believe that I control my luck or have intuition or control to the functioning of a machine. Your words were "we all like to think we can control our luck".Your words "Math is useful in many situations" and goes from there. I read this either correctly or incorrectly as being talked down to (i.e. insulting). If that was not the intent then I was mistaken but I have showed these replies to others and they also read the same thing so I am definitely not alone in this interpretation. If I may be so bold, perhaps your people skills could use some work especially in your message delivery area. Of course this is just IMHO. English is a wondrous thing (get my point).Good luck in your endeavors and Godspeed!

Sorry if you don't understand that your decision is not based on anything logical. Hence, all that is left is your own version of predicting the future. I used the term psychic since that is the closest I could come to to describing your actions. You can call it whatever you want.
You claimed that I thought I was psychic (a wild claim). That was the germane aspect to the discussion. This is basic reasoning and I know that you are smarter than this. Please don't play dumb. Is this now backed up or are you still claiming that I didn't back it up in the slightest.
Once again you make no sense. Whenever you make a non-logical decision you are in essence claiming to be psychic. You are claiming it is logical to leave a machine based on nothing but your own feelings. Give me another word if you don't like psychic.
As to me going off the rails here is my logic:
(1) You said I was making claims that inferred that I was psychic
(2) I denied that I inferred this no matter how much you misread/misinterpreted my words
(3) Bob S. said that you lose at VP
(4) You denied his claim as you say that you never said that
Do you understand the logic or are you still stumped.
No, the last items have no relationship to the first two. Losing at VP is not a decision. It is just someones wild claim. You have no evidence to support it. I have your own words to support my statement. Look, I have moved machines myself. I understand that the only logical reason for that move is a belief that some other machine will do better. I realize this is exactly the same as being psychic as I have nothing else to base that decision on. I realize when my decisions are not based on any factual information. You apparently do not.
Your logic is misplaced. You read one item and think it relates to something else. That is very poor logic.
Yes, one of us doesn't understand logic. Now, is it the math major or is it the other guy?
Your words about saving much vitriol was because I was emptying the vitriol here as I see you appearing as having a superiority complex. If my vitriol was seen as so slight to you that is good as it was meant to be constructive criticism and definitely not as a personal thing.
It was clearly several personal attacks. You know, like claiming a person has a "superiority complex".
Lastly, you confuse facts for your interpretations of things. We all perceive things differently. What you call factual information is merely your own interpretation EXCLUDING any evidence to the contrary. Selective reasoning like selective memory can lead to erroneous statements.
I see you are into a lot of projection.
Here is an example:
My words- I don't know anyone that can control their luck (the implication here is myself included)
Your words- Hey if you're somewhat psychic, go for it (a side note here, do you consider this statement as a factual response by yourself to my aforementioned comment above?)
Except my statement about being psychic had nothing to do with your statement about controlling luck. More evidence that your reading interpretation is quite poor.
I have given you an example of this now which I feel support my claims. If you need more convincing I am sorry but this is laid out as plain as I can make it.
I don't believe that I control my luck or have intuition or control to the functioning of a machine. Your words were "we all like to think we can control our luck".
Leaving a machine based on nothing logical is a belief you can control your luck. You say one thing but you do another.
Your words "Math is useful in many situations" and goes from there. I read this either correctly or incorrectly as being talked down to (i.e. insulting). If that was not the intent then I was mistaken but I have showed these replies to others and they also read the same thing so I am definitely not alone in this interpretation. You seem to forget your words that prompted that reply. You were claiming I was just like a drunk. Do you understand my reply now? I was simply trying to deflect your attack. I think your projection about "people skills" is right on the mark. You are seriously lacking.
Here's the bottom line. You started this discussion with the following statement:
"If you're the type that only believes in numbers then this point will be lost on you."
As you should now understand, anything else you claim to use in VP play other than "numbers" is indistinguishable from claiming you are psychic. You may not like that comparison (obviously, you didn't), but it is a fact.

Actually, when I am treated with respect I respond in kind. By your own admission your deflection of my supposed attack was meant to be an insult. I am done with arguing semantics. You don't know me. I have been told that the word "stranger" is not in my vocabulary as I can talk and connect with most anybody. If my words have been interpreted as "several personal attacks" then I can honestly tell you that that was not the intent. I was only trying to tell you that your discourse made you appear as if you thought you were better than others. I have read a number of your writings at this site (done my homework). I can tell that you are a person who genuinely tries to help people. For that I give you credit. Why I was selected as a foil I don't know.As I have said before you play by the numbers and you apply a lot of brainpower to this endeavor. I don't know if you have experience or an interest in stocks/options but you are more than equipped to make handsome sums in the market (based upon your knowledge/skills). If you ever wish to pursue this I can help as I have been blessed many times over in the market. When I am not doing FA/TA in the market and I am relaxing I play video poker among other things. I play as a release or escape from more taxing pursuits. I like variety and don't like playing on one machine or at one denom for very long. I move around, talk to people and make it a social occasion. To me the winning or losing pales in comparison to pressing the flesh and having a good time. If I was only worried about the winning or losing then I would have a completely different approach. Probably a bit more like yours or Dancer's. It's not my day job so I want to win but losing won't affect me.You didn't quote the best line in my last reply so I will repeat it. Good luck in your endeavors and Godspeed!

No. I was trying to keep the conversation civil. However, you simply could not do that.

You start off saying "you are the type" ... what do you think that is? A compliment?

You selected yourself by your personal attacks. I got over getting mad on the Internet long ago. Instead I simply reflect back the attitude directed at me. You reap what you sow.

Congratulations on your investment successes.
If you would have started with this attitude our conversation would have been quite different. Thanks for the compliments and let's just ignore this little mish-mash and move on.
I wish you continued success.

Well at least I tried. Um, thanks, I guess, for your best wishes and the congrats. We, you and I, would have been best served keeping the rest to yourself, IMHO.

I don't know anyone who can control their luck, perhaps you know of someone but that sounds absolutely bizarre to me.
A wise man once said ' The harder I work, the luckier I get".
I believe that applies to VP. If you work at understanding the probabilities and the impact of the pay tables, you can improve your 'luck'.

Thanks Billyjoe! I play DDB and use vpfree to find the better machines but I am always looking to learn something. I got some good help on this site on my progressives vs non-progressives question.

Shadowman,I think you were spot on in your "moving on" idea. Hopefully, this will be my final missive. I set expectations thusly:It is no coincidence that I am surrounded with family and friends that are positive thinking, good hearted folk. Additionally, I can say that there hearts are in the right place. To thrust you in that circle would be wrong as you would be uncomfortable and feel out-of-place. You deserve much better than that.Yours is the more practiced and disciplined mind which leads me to the following conclusion. I have come to the realization that the cold reality is I cannot offer you anything as your knowledge surpasses mine. I am awed/chilled in the knowledge that people such as yourself walk around on the same planet I do. I am lucky to have crossed paths with you as it makes me appreciate the good people in my life even more.I am thankful that you have brought out the best in me (you probably get that a lot). As we part ways I can assure you that I won't burden you with my experiences or inadequate assistance.Vaya con Dios,Burt
