Re: Another Taj Trip
I posted yesterday about my ten day AC trip from January 7 thru 17, and for the first time EVER in my four years of going to AC, I actually stayed at the Taj for a total of five comped days....it was surreal to say the least. Somehow, in my trips to AC in December, I played enough at the Taj (and Trump Plaza) to receive a January and February room offer of 10 free nights each month....I was like "wtf?!?!?" but i gladly booked the rooms online....the weird thing was, the websites only allowed me to book 1 night at a time so I actually made Five reservations of 1 night each, 5 days in a row....now this is usually a big no-no as AC casinos wont allow you to reserve more than 2 comped nights in a row, but their website is flawed or something so I did it. My last five nights on this 10 day trip were at the Taj. My overall AC trip wasnt great, not a disaster but not great either as I already wrote, but the play at the Taj was particularly brutal, the VP there is really tough, fortunately I made up for it with a few lucky hit and runs at caesars and borgata, i did not hit any royals or monsers, but at caesars I did hit a few fullhouses clumped together on a 9-6 machine to quickly walk out with 120 bucks, same with borgata, so this offset the 400 plus I dropped at the taj. The taj has three nulti hand dreamcard machines, but these things are absolute money eaters. They also have a multi hand QUick Quad machine I have played a few times, and altogether on the quick quad machine I am running about 50 bucks down all time, but each playing session has been almost exactly the same deal....i get in a hole real fast playing 3 or 5 handed 25 cent quick quads, and then when I get to about 200 bucks down, i will be dealt a solid winning hand like a non premium quad that wins on all 3 or 5 hands and starts me back on a recovery to where I get back to even or just a few dollars down.....I then quit and count my blessings, and then realize this happened the last time, and the time before, and the time before that etc. and I get mad again. It really is fishy that it keeps repeating the same experience over and over....just once I would like to get a quick quad on the first few hands and walk away up a couple hundred bucks! But the taj is both good and bad, the best of AC and the worst. I will give it one more try on super bowl sunday when I will be back in AC for 4-5 days, I am going to bring about 2 grand and plop my arse down on that quick quad machine one more time and see what happens. if it is groundhog day all over again, I am seriously thinking of calling the AC newspapers (Star Ledger reporter Don Gastkowski is the dude who covers the casinos and all of AC's trials and tribulations economically speaking) and offering them an exclusive on "Da Burglar's AC Dysfunctionality -- A crippled VP player's path to losing his sanity chasing imaginary cards down by the ocean...." One more thing: I ate in the italian place there, "Il Mullino" or something....it sucked big time. I agree the chinese food is good there, and I have eaten at Robertos but the one in the Plaza, not the Taj. The Taj's 24 hour restaurant next to Go is okay, but Go itself has awful coffee yet really good blueberry muffins. go figure.....like i said good and bad.
