Oh-Oh machines disapearing

Post by Rayser »

Oh-Oh, went to my favorite casino which had a couple of banks of one eyed jack machines that pay over 100%.  One bank of the machines are gone, replaced with some new fangled video slot. Only one bank of machines left, hard to get on them though because of demand.  I suppose they will disapear soon also. Not sure why they were taken out, I suspect because they needed to make room for the newest attraction for the slot players.

TI casino in Redwing,  the 4 machines in the non smoking area are gone.  Talked to a couple players, and they weren't sure why they were removed.  The prevailing thought is that they are going to use them for parts on the remaining 8 that they have left.  Only two $1 denomination and six .25 denominations left. I see that the machines are 18 years old, so I suppose they are on life support.   I wish they could increase the pay table on an equal number of newer machines when they put the old ones out to pasture.  Why does the state of Minnesota cap video poker at 98% max payout anyway?

Uh-oh. TI in Red Wing, isn't that in MN Shadow? Maybe they took them out because I haven't been up there in a couple years.

The machines are getting old. However, they took out 10 machines about 6 months ago so I doubt it for parts. More likely they discovered they weren't making much money on them.

I predicted they would disappear eventually. Lasted longer than I thought. Time for a new hobby.

As for the 98% return ... never did make any sense. Most likely some bureaucrat got involved who didn't have a clue.

I'ts just disgusting to see them being replaced by 1 cent or 5 cent video slot machines.  They seem to be taking over the market.

More play and higher profit for the casino, I bet.

Rayser..I know Red wing has been changing their machines, but the One Eyed jacks are predominant up in Hinckley and Mille Lacs. It might be a drive for you, but there are tons of them.

Thanks Cook.  I am already 100 miles south of Redwing, so It would be approx. twice the drive time Will keep it in mind for a mini vacation though.

Whenever I went to the Grand at Hinckley I stayed overnight. Since I also live south of TI the trip is 3x longer. However, it's not all that bad if only going one way in a day and it's all freeway.

I used to play there regularly instead of TI. In many ways the machines are better ... more machines, a few progressives (very slow meter), better graphics and the main restaurant is better. However, they cut their player's club extras at the same time TI increased theirs. So, I switched about 3 years ago.

I'll probably start going back there now as I'm not going to drive the 50 miles to TI with < 5% chance of finding a machine open.
