Re: TOC champion

I guess I can not and will not understand how people play in these daily and monthly contest's with no expectation of winning. If you do not have any expectation of winning why play? Tell me please I really want to know.I play for entertainment  and fun, and to try out new games that are not universally available. I have no expectation at all of winning a particular contest because I understand that my getting one of those monster hands that, usually, is needed to even get on the leaderboard is very, very unlikely.   But, as webman states, when millions of hands are involved, someone probably will get one of those monsters.

It is more realistic to expect to lose I guess I am not wired to accept losing and liking it.
I know several guys that I golf with occasionally that will NEVER make a bet unless they have a good chance of winning that bet. If you dislike 'betting' your time playing the contests on this site, knowing that winning is a real long shot, then don't play them. There is nothing wrong with not wanting to invest something (time, money) when you know the chance of a return is slim.

It is becoming apparent to me that people have little to no expectation of winning here. Since the VP on this site and the VP in the casino's are supposedly mirror image's of each other. Do you then have the same expectation's when you go to the casino? I hope not,  I would find it unbeliveable that you have different expectation's on basically the same machine's Just my two cent's worth.

If you considered it a losing day at the casino every time you didn't get a dealt royal flush, you might have a point. If you have reasonable betting habits, your odds of having a winning day at the casino are thousands of times better than having the very best score in a pack of thousands of players.

At a casino, you are playing one on one.  That's hardly the same as playing a contest on this site against several thousand other players. So, why wouldn't one's expectations be different?

At the casino you expect to win. the validity of the machine's in a casino are questioned on a daily basis here. Which lead's to comment's like THEM GREEDY INDIAN'S. One would have thought that would have been censored but that is a subject for another day. So if you expect to win there why wouldn't you have the same expectation's of winning here? That make's no sense to me.

If someone question's the validity of the contest's here they are basically shunned and made into a pariah of sort's So I guess you should be careful whose boat you are rocking. None of these comment's are pointing toward you Webman.

I was lucky enough to participate in the recent TOC contest. I was a randomly selected player and did manage to reach 11th place in the final standings. The contest was great fun. Thanks for the opportunity to play.

At the casino you expect to win..
Really?  Anyone who walks into a casino "expecting" to win is going to be disappointed most of the time.  The reality is that there are a lot more losing sessions than winning ones. However, the chances of having a winning session at a casino are far better than winning a contest here.

Wow. This is like crying to a casino host because god forbid, you went to the casino and you didn't win more money than everyone else who showed up that day. Too bad, so sad. I play once in a while when I have a few minutes to burn. It's free, hey I might win something you never know. I don't think I've made the top ten before and if I did, it didn't last long. The people who did got better cards... you won't find me crying about it. Congratulations to the tournament champion, which is what I thought this was going to be about.
