High Payout?
Not sure if this is the right section, but I saw a $ 1 machine on 96 Jacks or better, that paid 825 to 1 for a RFEvery other pay out was the same as Bob Dancers top payout on 96 jacks or better, in video poker for the intelligent beginner.I'm new here, not sure how to re-calculate the payout, or if these is even news, but considering the other machines I've seen (in CA) to go over the 96 pay schedule seems real good.I'll elaborate if anyone cares, this one was in Reno.

On Bob Dancer's 'Video Poker for Winners' (don't you just love that guy ), you can set the paytable to whatever you desire. I set a 9/6 JOB to an 825 RF, and the software said the return was 99.606% with one coin bet. Regular 9/6 JOB, with one coin bet, is 98.373%.

I don't understand the reason for referring to a one coin bet, since, in all liklihood, the 99.606% return asociated with the 825 RF would be available only with a 5 coin bet. Regular 9/6 JOB, with a five coin bet, returns 99.54%.

I do not disagree with onemoretry. If you were in the casino (without the benefit of vp software) and happened to know that 9/6 JoB paid 99.5439%, you could calculate the EV fairly closely on the back of an envelope (or in your head for math savants) using the 2% for a 4000-coin royal rule of thumb. This means that every 200 coins on the royal is worth about .10%.So, 825 for one coin equates to 4125 for 5 coins. 125 is 5/8 of 200. 5/8 x 0.10% = 0.0625%, meaning the estimate would be 99.6064%. Using WinPoker, the EV comes out to 99.6064%; that's a fairly close estimate! And I assumed 825 for 1. A lot of us say 825 to 1 and really mean the former. Technically 825 to 1 would mean a payoff of 826, meaning that you would get 825 per coin PLUS your original coin back. Harder to do on the back of an envelope, but that would yield a 99.6089% return. And there actually is a strategy difference in playing those mildly different games. With 825 for 1, computer-perfect play selects Ke from a hand like KeTe6e 9` 7`. With 825 to 1, the correct play is KeTe.Of course, this won't make a difference for the way many people would play the game...and won't bruise the bankroll in any case!

I used the one-coin example since that is what the thread author said. Dancer's VPW identifies these %s as for 'this coin bet". Just trying to be helpful.

I did not see anything in the original post that referred to one coin.
I'm trying to be helpful too, and ensure that the original poster does not a wrong impression as to the added value of the 825 for 1 RF versus the"normal" 800 for 1.
