faygo,
She told me she had been dealt 4 RF twice before she hit and watched it roll to $1200 and thought geez now if I hit it'll be a "G" statement. She took it anyway.

Holy Bat Balls Batman!!! 18?!?!?!    EIGHTEEN?!?!??!     9+9?!?!?    Eight plus another 5 plus another FIVE?!??!   Since 2010 on the SAME BANK?!?  Holy Bat Balls Ba.....oh wait I already yelled that.....  First off, Congrats Lucky Larry!   (or should we start calling you something more formal and commanding of respect, like "Fortunate Lawrence"?) Second, what casino is this???  Third.....in all honesty Larry. in getting 18 RFs since 2010, how many TOTAL hands, roughly, were played during this period???  give your best guess if you dont know for certain, but I am pretty sure you probably have a good "guesstimate" since you are obviously a sharp player.

My hope is way less than 600,000 hands; otherwise I would be looking for a better game to play and licking my wounds.

There are lots of variables but we play lots of hands over an average of 3-4 trips/month. First, since Isle Lake Charles is 2 hours away we usually arrive in the early afternoon and stay overnight playing. Usually we play 2 sessions: #1) 8-10 hours depending on whether we eat supper; #2) 3-5 hours before we head home the next day. Sweet C plays 600+ hands/hour when playing single hand (easily 8,000+ hands/trip). I play multi-hand which is slower (5000 + hands/trip).

Second, we allocate a certain % of our monthly budget for our VP accounts, getting hits determines our monthly bankroll impacting how many trips we make per/month. Outside of our grandkids this is our primary entertainment – unless you count eating out! We made 4 trips in February (one being a 3 day/2 night stay). Win we play, lose we stay home.

Third, because we are retired, (I work part-time on my own schedule) we can go during off-peak times maximizing our machine time on 98%+ pay return, low volatility games, low denomination machines at a very high efficiency trying to maximize our VP dollars.. And, fourth, we maximize our comp play by often playing on one card for increased cash back and weekly cash offers. The Isle gives generous cash back and weekly cash offers so generally have a nice weekly bankroll supplement. The weekly cash is cumulative so if you plan your visits correctly you get “last week + this week + bonus day” cash back. Most years, our combined Coin In/Coin Out is between $750K -$1M on 5¢-25¢ machines. Being near top tier also gives us a nice multiplier on every hand.

Finally, and probably most importantly the above factors are supplemented by incredible luck. We began playing VP full-time in 2006 when we retired and we’ve been extremely lucky. I track all our play on spreadsheet and we’ve hit 107 RF in that time but played several million hands. Since 2006 Sweet C has had 6 dealt RF and I’ve had 4 (all on multi-hand). Three of my dealt RF came in one lucky year – 2011, (1/1/11 followed by another one 24 days later and then one in June - what are those odds? Even had dealt Aces on first hand of Super Aces that year). 2011 was our most incredible year, we had 28 RF - $1K+ thus we had a great bankroll so we played almost 1.5 million CI/CO. Most of that year I played a 3/5 - 99% return machine 25¢ machine. Last year we didn’t hit as well and only had 7 RF. “Win! You play – Lose you stay home!”

The Progressive Sweet C plays is 8/5 but she usually plays it when the RF is over $1100 and it seems to usually hit before $1300. She is also more prone to play for the RF when it is higher giving up smaller payouts probably contributing to her hits. Once again hits = bankroll. Since 2010 when Isle set up this bank of six machines she hit 4 (2010); 10 (2011 our big hit year) and 3 (2012) and 1 (2013). Luck (timing) plays such an incredible role in VP that you have to understand that all things balance. I’ll probably never see another year like 2011 and certainly 2012 was the return to norm. But, we play because we love the game, its provided us with great options as we travel and visit casinos all over the US/Canada and it is an activity which gives us the option for a return if we’re “lucky”. Besides, it something we enjoy doing together and we made some great friends as a result.

good answer, thanks.   I appreciate the honesty, you obviously have been exceptionally "lucky". some might even say BLESSED! lol But here is my point, the polar opposite of "rigging" and yet not an OPPOSITE at all....if machines can be set to deal cards that are not favorable (i.e. LOSERS) at various rates and various configurations, then the flip side is they can also set a machine, using the utility/user menu settings I've talked about before, to actually have a machine PAY at a rate that exceeds normal expectations.   it makes sense.... Larry and C's results, particularly in 2011, might suggest a casino deciding to set a bank of  machines to deal RF at a rate higher than the expected rate.   I've seen and heard of this before......plus, it makes sense that a casino, if it truly wants to for business/promo reasons, can take a machine and have it be exceptionally "generous", that is their business right.  Gaming regs are meant to protect the CUSTOMERS primarily, as well as the states' various interests.  They are NOT intended to dictate HOW a company must run the BUSINESS side of things. I know a number of people who I suspect were the "victim/beneficiary" of a machine(s) that were set to be extremely GENEROUS, with the obvious intent, ultimately, to get them in a euphoric mood so that, when the machine is tightened up again, they crash hard.     To go from 2011's year results to 2012 definitely suggests something was changed outside of normal chance. Still, I am happy for Larry, it is good when one of our own wins
