redemption machines v cashier

Post by marie meijer »

Two gals were unable to redeem their ticket at a Windsor Caesar's redemption machine (aka TITO in the states, ticket in, ticket out) . I do not know why. Against my better judgment, I tried that machine and it worked just fine. Short of creating their own ticket, perhaps they were trying to use an expired ticket? 90 days is the ticket life span at Windsor. On rare occasions, at various casinos, I see an "out of service" sign on a redemption  machine. I wonder if the last person trying to use that machine had a major problem getting their money, ticket back or service. Yesterday, the redemption machine would not pay out my $2222.50 win.  I went to the cashier per the machine's instruction, on the far side of the casino. ( A royal and dealt AWAK on the draw helped) I feel if I have a big win, it might be safer to go to the cashier, as fewer gamers might be aware of my big win. My husband feels it best to go to the cashier with a big win in case there might be a snafu at the redemption machine. Any input on this?

In AC caesars, the same BS happens with me.....of course the last time I actually had a big win on a ticket in CAesars AC was last year (circa September I believe)....I had a lucky run at the five star dreamcard machines and my initial 300 dollar input was run up to over 1900 bucks when i quit....I tried 3 different machines and none of them would honor my ticket, so I went to the cage and cashed it...... That's my two cents

Thanks for your input, DaBurglar. I like TITO and use the redemption machines most of the time. Usually, they are conveniently located all over the casino. It would help if they posted something like "Take wins over X amount to the cashier" on the front of the machines. Once, in the early days of the machines, I could not use a ticket for $600 at a ticket redemption machine but I believe they are all over that amount now.

I don't use a redemption machine on anything over $100 or so. Especially if it only pays out in 20's. And I don't want the hassle of waiting if the machine wouldn't pay out the correct amount or malfunction.P.S.  Doncha love it when the one ahead of you in the machine line is cashing out 7 tickets, all for under $20?  That's' another case where one should go to the cashier unless you know how to combine them in a gaming machine and be able to redeem one ticket.I know some casinos let you feed more than one TITO in and sum them up, but believe it or not,, there are plenty that don't.

The casino I play at will not pay over $1000 at the redemption machines. I think this can be set by the the casino. Also, I've had tickets spit out with the message saying "see cashier" but had them pay when inserted again. I think there can be problems reading the information off the tickets at times.

Good points, mammajamma and shadowman, TY! My ATM machine only spits out $20s and this is a pain when leaving for a casino or vacation trip or more likely a casino vacation trip!  Of course, I am always grateful when my ATM can spit out something! Yes, mamma, let's hope gamers everywhere have learned today that they can combine those tickets in the machine they play instead of holding up the line at redemption. This will help cut down on misplacing those tickets and carrying them around beyond their expiration date! It's to their advantage. It will also help cut down on temper tantrums by gamers waiting in line to use that redemption machine!

same here, this is one of those annoying absurd things that happen to u in a casino that u manage to forget as soon as u get home.....but it is almost funny, I have had  tix that I try to insert 3,4, or 5 times or more, then on the 6th or 7th attempt.....PRESTO!  the machine works! Aside from the possibility that casinos are cutting back on maintenance and servicing in this stagnant economy, I suspect that casinos DO intentionally slow down the payout process in hopes people give up and take their tix and chips and go play some more....witness some lines at a casino cage at peak business hours where only one or two windows are operating and the line stretches 15 to 20 deep.....and the same with the machines.    it should not surprise us given the business' nature

I use the TITO machines most of the time. Most will take multiple tickets for one redemption action. I always see Benjamins, which you need to re-insert if you want a lower denom. I saw one redemption machine (can't remember what casino) that lets you select how you want the redemption broken down - 100s, 20s, 5s.

You notice, there are no $10 bills in those machines. Tens are considered bad luck in casinos.

That's my two cents   I think I read an article about this and authorities were looking into possible redemption kiosk tampering by casino management. It may have been wide spread in Atlantic City but there was also a possibility that it was also reaching Native American casinos as well. If this is true then I see a story that maybe picked up by Dateline NBC.

This is off subject but wanted to share this.......... My mom lives in Vegas and my step dad took 3 bills they were paying and droped them into the mail box at the Orleans(I think) anyway a week later they checked their account to see if the checks had cleared and 2 had, but they were not the ones from them, someone had stole those checks and washed them and one was written out for Kmart and can't remember the other, Anyway my step dad went to the casino and they told him they would look into it HA HA, I guess the mail boxes at the casinos are emptied out my an employee and then they take it to the post office,,,,,,,,,who knew?  Now the casino did nothing about this,,,,, they had to have known who was doing this..... any way they stopped payment and thought everything was ok, but low and behold last week the 3 check came back for 150$ to Big Lots.... my mom called the bank and the guy said  You've been scamed!  So now they have to close their account and open a new one.......... not in my wildest dreams ( I have many wild dreams!) would I have ever thought that would happen...... So this is just food for thought the next time you drop your bills off into a mail box....It's a scary world.......... We are off tomorrow for Little River for 3 days, hope to have something good to report!
