Tunnel tokens are passe NEXPRESS TOLL

Post by marie meijer »

I tried to purchase a new roll of tunnel tokens today. I learned they are no longer for sale as of Feb. 28, 2013. A roll of 20 cost $75 US or $80 Canadian. They were economical and convenient to use if one made frequent trips between Detroit and Windsor. The tunnel between Detroit and Windsor under the Detroit River was built in 1942 and is more convenient for me than the Ambassador bridge. You can still use up your existing tokens to Dec.31, 2013 and toss one into the bin. This enables the gate bar to open and allows crossing to Canada, or vice versa.click on  http://www.dwtunnel.com for info and click on "NEXPRESS Toll" to apply on line. "The Easy Way to Cross", cheaper than cash, tokens and credit card fares!($3.85)Register and load your account with minimum $100 using VISA or MasterCard. NEXPRESS Toll cards can be used at any lane in Detroit and designated lanes in Windsor.

I am happy to report that my NEXPRESS TOLL card works beautifully at the Detroit/Windsor Tunnel. My card arrived six days after I ordered it by minimum $100 credit card charge on line. It's the size of a credit card, comes in a paper, foil lined RFID BLOCKING CARD PROTECTOR (www.idstronghold.com) preventing others in the area from gaining info from my card. It fits snugly inside it's vinyl cover. One merely TAPS the black NEXPRESS box at the border with the card from the car window, for easy use to open the guard rail. Apparently, I have to keep track of my card balance. I admit I was somewhat hesitant about trying this new pass and my fears no longer exist.
