Hi Quad, if I'm playing ddb I will hold A-10, if I'm playing tdb then only the AEvery time you hold AT in DDB you're giving the casino about 0.2 coins on a 5-coin bet.  But if it makes you feel good to give the casinos more than their fair share, keep on keeping on.
Not necessarily. What if the RF progressive is $1300? Or, as I have seen $1800? Of course, the EV changes when the AWAK is over $600 with the RF at $1050.

Of course progressives change strategy.  Read the OPs post.  No mention of progressives.

Actually, I just read the OP again...Kati -Stop worrying about what might have been based on the cards you draw and concentrate on making the correct hold every time, as that, and choosing the game to play, are the only things you can control.Who has time to look at the cards drawn unless they're winners?  If you're expending effort tracking the cards you discarded against the draw you're wasting brain power on a useless exercise.  Playing VP at as close to perfect strategy as you can is hard enough without worrying about "extra stuff."

I hope those who mention holding K-T can lead to quad tens also realize holding K-J can lead to quad jacks. In fact, the odds are exactly the same.
When playing games like DDB and TDB, I am looking for the premium payouts. Getting 250 for quad tens in either of those games is better than the 125 quad anything in JOB.
But in DDB you are over twice as likely to hit a 4-of-a-kind holding K instead of KT, including possibly Aces or 2s,3s,4s.  To me, this "justification" for holding KT just doesn't hold water.
But 4000 for the RF is a lot more water than 250, 400 or 800. And I can't hit 4000 by discarding the ten, and holding the king.

But as we all agree, to each their own..

No advice, just some statistics.  If you move JT, QT, and KT suited ahead above all the 2-high-card unsuited holds on a basic strategy chart , you will have an expected loss of 0.77 coins per hour.

What program(s) did you use to help you come up with that? And what hand rate did you use? The answer sounds about right though.

It's a minor mistake at best, kati. If hitting more Royals is more exciting to you (likely) then I don't see a big deal with it.
You're jumping back and forth.  That is to be expected as attempting to rationalize that which is technically incorrect is a tough task and requires some flexibility in applying logic.  I hit enough good hands playing correctly to keep me happy.  The overall upward trend line in my bankroll makes me even happier.

And what hand rate did you use? You quoted in coins per hour.

Eh, I re-read your data and back-calculated to ~600 hands/hr. Correct?
