Royal Flush
Trip to L'Auberge du Lac about 10 days ago - thought I had the hand of a lifetime - playing $1 super times pay 3 hands double double bonus - drew the A,K,Q and J of hearts - then in the fourth position the times 8 multiplier slowly went across the screen - I held my breathe and it dealt me - an Ace of Diamonds - threw that away and - dealt me junk.
Very disappointed the next few hands but before I left I got this beauty - held the Queen of Diamonds and there it was - drew 4 cards to the Royal Flush.
On another note I will be so Glad when the new competing hotel is completed - maybe - just maybe - they will begin again to treat video poker players like they want them at the casino. I have gone from being comped beautiful suites on the second floor to having to beg for a regular room on a remodeled floor. I check in thru VIP and if the host hasn't booked me a suite (which pretty much never happens anymore) then I better fight for a good room. The room they checked me into last time I wouldn't let my dog spend the night in - something needs to change. I take thousands of dollars with me to gamble - I put my money up every time - and I am being given the same rooms my kids get comped and they bring a couple hundred dollars to gamble.
The comp program at L'Auberge is just very poor - there is too much point spread in the middle levels of their comp program - I usually get 4000 points a day but that isn't enough anymore to insure the kind of comps I should get for that much money gambled.
Happy about the Royal Flush but Very Unhappy with recent treatment at L'Auberge. Maybe some new competition will make them rethink - maybe.

Gigi, all casinos have casino managers. Quit dancing with the front desk folks, and take your issues to the top.

i suggest simply STOP going to this crappy place, just STOP, STOP, StahhhhhhhhPPPP!! Save your money and instead of a bunch of little trips schedule a Vegas trip several times a year and save your money for those trips. Its Quality versus Quantity.

If she doesn't leave the Vegas strip, the STP machines there will but just as bad I'm sure. Most STP machines really blow. But I do agree Vegas is more fun.

Gigi,
Congratulations on your Royal.
Hate to disappoint you but the new casino won't create any competition. Here's the long story about the casino being built next to L'Auberge:
1) Pinnacle which owns L'Auberge bought a state license to build a second sister casino next to L'Auberge. (No Competition)
2) During the economic crisis Pinnacle lost the license when it didn't meet the "build deadline".
3) Fired Pinnacle CEO bought the license and claimed he would build new casino called Sugar Cane Bay. If approved by voters. (Competition)
4) Pinnacle funded groups to defeat the local referendum (they didn't want the competition) but lost the local vote.
5) Funding for Sugar Cane Bay fell through after the referendum approval. (No competition)
6) State sells license to Ameristar to create competition for L'Auberge. (Competition)
7) Ameristar Casino Inc. (11 casinos) is bought out by Pinnacle for $869 million. They can build using Ameristar name. (No Competition)

The comps are much better at Isle of Capri and with all the renovations the Tower Rooms are certainly equal to L'Auberge. Maybe we can meet up one trip.

Thanks Larry for the explanation of the long saga of new casino. No wonder they haven't shown any signs of "caring".
I do want to meet you both - feel like I know you and Sweet "C".
I left Isle for L"Auberge when Isle just got so rundown - you keep telling me to "come on over" - I just need to do it. Do you have a host you recommend?
Can you believe that "teaser" of a hand that I drew - I still get chills thinking about that "missed" drawn Royal x 8 -

Gigi,
If you remember the old Isle, I think you'll be impressed with the new renovated isle facilities. The GM is the former CFO of L'Auberge and he and Isle Corp. know what they have to do to compete with L'Auberge LDL. The floor of the boat have been completely redone. All the rooms at the Inn and Tower have been completely stripped and redone. The Tower rooms are really nice, lost the jacuzzi tubs but new, big, soaking tubs have replace them. Small things like free Internet/WiFi versus $25/day at LDL also help. The lobby and check in were just finished and the parking lot was redone after Easter.
Host I'd recommend:
First, you might want to contact Justin Dufrene (used to be a senior host at L'Auberge) but came over with new GM.
Carol Frabbiele, Cliff Pryde, Troy Hooks, or Mac Clark are all great. Let them know Larry and Candy recommended you contact them.
1-888-ISLE VIP or (337) 430-2121 and ask for host on duty.
BTW: Make sure you try the STP in the back VP room-1st floor by the restrooms. Two months ago, one of the regulars drew 4-RF on 5 hand 50¢ STP X10 and caught the Royal- $20K. Trip before saw a new player catch 8X $1 Deuces holding 2 and last trip a regular caught a 4x Royal all in the same room on only 5 machines.
