Video Poker and Multi Point Days
The Florida Indian Casinos recently upgraded their management and it looks like things may get a little better. I think they see more competition coming on the horizon and they are trying to get a head start on their image. I recently received a copy of a new player’s magazine in the mail where the new Chief Operating Office solicited comments from players. I emailed one of the new managers and asked him why they exclude Video Poker from their multi-point day promotions. To my surprise, he responded to my email right away. The reason they gave is that video poker accumulates comp points a lot faster than an average slot machine. This makes sense to me as I can probably get 4-5 hands off in video poker in the same time a slot machine can play one (especially some of the new bonus slots). There is a rumor going around that they are building a new casino in Daytona Beach opening in 2016. I think the State's deal with the Indian Tribes is up in a year or so. Bring on the competition!

A little competition never hurt anyone, maybe it will make them work a little harder to insure their players are taken better care of. I live in the Tunica area and the casinos have only gotten tighter as far as paytables and comps and we 've got several casinos here. I used to play vp heavy in Tunica but that's not the case anymore, I had a casino host ask me why I hadn't been playing as much and I told him I was playing plenty just not in Tunica, I was playing in another state where the paytables and comps were far better than Tunicas, his response was " well, we are in line and competitive with the other area casinos". I get $320 per month in free play and my points add up to $100 extra free play almost everytime I play at the other casino, plus they give me 4 free buffets per week or 2 free steakhouse dinners per week, I also get free limo tranportation and free admission to sit in the casinos skybox at Memphis Grizzlies basketball games and the free drinks and food in the skybox is fantastic. I also forgot the free suites at the hotel for a guest and myself anytime I want. What does Tunica give me, about $50 a month in free play and maybe a room once a month along with "reduced" meal tickets.

Phil I have always thought that video poker players earned comp points at half the dollar in rate that slot players earn them. Like if slot players earn 1 point for $1.00 in, video poker players earned that same 1 point for $2.00 in.
I could be wrong though.

Basically this. I was thinking he was lying to you. Unless he meant, video poker players earn more comps than the average slot player because they play significantly more coin-in per hour. At least he was prompt though.
Most casinos either give the same multiplier for VP or some reduced multiplier, so the coin-in argument may be valid.

He didn't say the comp rate was different for video poker than for slots. In order to verify this, I would have to play video poker then slots for a while to see if I could find a difference. This may be easier now. One of the new features they are adding is to have your comp dollars show on the machine as an actual dollar amount instead of points. I could play a number of hands on both machines and see what happens. So far, the comps in Florida are nothing to write home about. I play a lot of hands a month, most of the time at low denominations. I always have enough points for free meals and such. Biloxi is a whole different matter. I think the Beau Rivage would send a guy to carry you there on his back if they had to. We love the Beau and play there on three day trips whenever they send us free flights and rooms. I had a huge day there in 2008 and ever since then we've been getting flight offers regularly. The VP odds aren't good, but the hotel and everything else about the place is great. Love it!

In AC @ CET properties its like this:
Slot Machines
Earn 1 Tier Credit for every $5.00 you play on a reel slot
machine. Earn 1 Tier Credit for every $10.00 you play on a video poker
machine.

Ja, that is correct jeter....in fact, at Atlantic Club AC, VP is a crappy way to earn cash back or comps, except on Thursdays when they offer VP sweepstakes from 4pm to Midnight and allow a comp ratio the same as slots. On the days when they offer 5x comps (which you must call and request the day BEFORE or else you do not qualify for the offer) VP is excluded altogether. At Resorts AC (now operated by Mohegan SUn) Video Poker is likewise handicapped compared to slots and even table games when it comes to earning comps and cashback and other benefits.....UNLESS, your daily coin exceeds a certain level, THEN (and only then) you can ask your host to revamp your comps to a better level, but you HAVE TO ASK! And the level of coin in is NOT the same for everyone, it depends on which tier your players card is currently at when you begin play. In other words, if you are at the first level (gold) you need at least $5,000 coin in per day (i think) to earn comps at the same rate as slots if all your coin in is in VP. If you are at the second level tier (Epic) then you need to hit at least 3500 in coin in before a host can up your comps to the best rate....and finally the thrid and highest tier (Paramount) will have you earning comps at the highest rate simply by maintaining a daily coin in of at least 2500 if you play VP, again IF YOU ASK YOUR HOST. I'm Daburglar, I'm here to help......
