Need help on Foxwoods Deuces strategy
These are the best quarter deuces within 1000 miles of my house so the withholding of any "don't play that lousy game" posts would be much appreciated.I've taken to playing (recreationaly only so don't jump on me please) a
progressive quarter NSUD game at Foxwoods. It is 97.06 at reset and the
paytable is:
1-2-3-4-4-9-12-20-200-800
3 questions.
1. Are there any major (no penalty cards please) variations with NSUD?
2. What is the correct no deuce 2 card royal hold (over razgu) in this game at
reset? I'll take any penalty card distinction.
3. At what point (these are quarter progressive machines) does it become the
right play to hold an ace high 2 card no deuce royal? I'll take the penalty card
numbers on this one too.
Thanks in advance

I can't really address your specific questions, since I've never (and don't intend to) play that pay scale. My one comment relates to your incorrect use of the acronym NSUD. NSUD refers to a very specific deuces wild pay scale. It produces a return of 99.73%. Needless to say, your game is not NSUD.

If you feel like taking a 15 minute ride to Mohegan Sun from Foxwoods, you can play 15-9-4-4- Deuces and also get 25 for the wild royal that in the long run will return 98.91% with 5 quarters in. The downside there is those machines do not pay player points and there are no nickel games there with better odds than what you describe above. Playing only one quarter instead of 5 will cost over 1% in the long run. Not earning points is not such a big deal anymore since over 400 dollars has to be cycled through to earn 1 point playing vp( worth 1 dollar in casino money)

I responded to this same question in the VPFree2 forum, mostly with a rant about often not including 9/6 DDB and 98.91% Deuces ("Illinois Deuces", "LV Airport Deuces", "Ugly Ducks"). 98.91% Deuces should be added to the Mohegan Sun list, especially if it's only at the quarter level, imo.
Of course the Airport definitely does NOT have this game anymore...lol I think Harrah's Joliet still has it for dollars (even with STP ). I usually play this game at Casino Royale in Vegas for nickels.

There are plenty of over-99% games already listed on vpFREE2 for Mohegan Sun, from 25c to $25, even 25c 9/6 JoB. I don't really expect them to list all video poker at casinos, just the best paytables. Having said that, they might add the 98.91% Deuces since they have some 9/6 DDB listed. vpFREE2 must at least have the denomination and game to add anything. So if you have that info, click on "Send Update" and let them know what should be added. If you submit something and it doesn't get added, I urge you to click on "Contact Us" and tell the site owner about it. Like any such website, things go wrong all the time.

Sweet C and I found 9/6 JOB in 25¢/$1 on our visit to MH three weeks ago and my notes also indicated Ugly Deuces. If I remember rightly, the ones I found were three machines in Casino of the Wind; Section "Q"(I had to call a tech and I remember her indicating Section Q-Quincy); between the restrooms and a bar, second row machines 1-3 single play looking left to right. If my memory is wrong.....old age is setting in...and we made both MS and FW over a two day period.

To answer your strategy questions Mike:
1 and 2:
http://wizardofodds.com/games/video-pok ... 200-d-800/
Some notable differences from 25/16/10 NSUD (I may have missed some...linked strategy is accurate):
(0 deuces) 4 to a straight better than 3 to SF Ace-low
(0 deuces) pair that is straight blocker better than 3 to SF no gaps. E.g. 7d8d9d6c6h = hold 6c6h
(1 deuce) Pat flush better than 4 to Wild Royal Ace high
(1 deuce) 3 of a kind better than 4 to SF with 2 gaps
(1 deuce) 3 to SF (0 or 1 gap; 56 or higher) better than 3 to Wild Royal Ace high
(2 deuces) Pat flush better than deuces only
(3 deuces) Deuces only better than Five of a kind
2. At reset point, like all other deuces games, 2 to a royal is better than garbage unless it is an Ace-high draw.
3. Basic strategy doesn't dictate to hold two to a Royal draw that is Ace-high until the Royal is worth ~$1444.

Thank you so much for your very thorough answer. For others benefit I should point out that the above statement is not entirely right. In FPDW (which I've been playing nearly 25 years) we only hold 2 to a royal king high if there is no penalty card. This is, for trivia purposes, the ONLY penalty card situation I ever have, or ever will, bothered to learn.

Whoops sorry, you are right. I have never played enough Deuces to bother with penalty exceptions, and I have only played FPDW for about 15 minutes in my whole life. :( If you want to know penalties at the base value, KT suited is worse than trash with a flush penalty, even in this short pay game. The penalty disappears at about $1090. All exceptions at the base royal value should be listed at the bottom of the link I gave you.
