Finally a little luck at Mohegan Sun

Post by olds442jetaway »

Decided to play 9/6 job for a change today even though those machines earn no player points. Used a version of my usual strategy on progressing up on my bet a little at a time during a losing session. I have to say this machine was in the top 10 of the worst ones I have ever played. No 4 of a kind in nearly 6 hours of play, only a couple of flushes and full houses and it very rarely dealt me 3 of a kind. The only thing that kept me alive was there were quite a few money back hands. Anyway, I was up to 19 quarters a hand which finishes off my bankroll in a hurry on any bad streak. This machine allows you to play up to 25 quarters and you can also change to a dollar game if you want. I was dealt 4 to a Royal in clubs and got nothing in the draw. The very next hand added insult to injury be dealing me the Ace of clubs that I needed before and two other high clubs. I barely paid attention in holding the three to the Royal while still thinking about the previous hand. I was lucky enough to catch the Royal this time though with 19 coins in and my first W-2 G for the year. Now the trick is to budget this out over the next 10 trips or so and hope for another one. I think I posted recently that I was going on nearly 200k hands without a Royal. Finally broke the ice

Glad to hear the streak is over, and that it wasn't on a super cheap machine. When I read that you had gone about ~200k hands w/o a royal the other day, I was a bit surprised you hadn't gone DaBurglar on us yet! Hell I might have. 200k hands w/o a Royal is a 1% event for "Airport Deuces".

And where is the picture?!?!?!

They still frown on taking pictures at Mohegan in the gaming area and especially of the machines themselves.  Don't want to take the chance of being " excluded" which is their term for being banned. Have seen it done before for even small infractions by other patrons. Also I am a dinosaur when it comes to that stuff. I think my phone has a camera, but I don't have the service where you can send pictures etc. I even bought a spare " old type" cell phone so I don't have to use one of the newer types. Anyway, thanks for the well wishes and as always good luck and health to all

Good hit olds44jetaway, if it makes you feel any better I went over 2 1/4years without RF and at the time was going to Foxwoods almost twice a month. Question? I have not been to Mohegan over 4+years but when I was there last time saw player behind me playing.25c max(25 play) amount hit RF for $5000 dollars, what if don't mind does it pay for 19 quarters, something like $3000 and something? Either way good hit will keep you funded for little while. Sam

Hi Sam.  Luckily, Mohegan still pays the correct amount for the RF as long as you have 5 or more coins in. So at 800 for 1 x 19  equals 15,200 quarters or 3800 bucks. Probably a long time before I see that again because I always start out betting small and only go up near the end of a session if I have had a crappy machine all day.  I play once in awhile at Foxwoods too, but because of their poor payout schedule on most machines, I usually stick to the 100 play machine at the 10 cent level. In that program, they pay about 98 percent for the Kings or better joker game. May run into you up there sometime if I knew when you were going. Thanks for the congrats at any rate.

Okay,olds442jetaway that explains it,when I did play at Mohegan sometimes by mistake I pushed max. so it was 25 quarters but the way you explained it as long bet 5 or more quarters you get the bonus on RF.Yes! Foxwoods pay tables on VP are poor,bad,low,ect.ect.(lol) I try and play the progressive .25c DDB & TDB machines, to say atleast getting more for my gamble or return for money, wife sticks to nickel VP lately but prefers .25c (lol) She say we are going down(from NH) this Thursday 6 she been promoted at work so she a boss and wont have as much time, she dosnt have to twist my arm twice.(lol)Olds sometime in future we might run into each other.Okay Sam

Best of luck Sam on this trip. Can't make it this Thurs, but in the future look for a short, older, balding, slightly oevrweight, 1/2 Italian guy, playing in the VP area.......Oh wait, I don't think that would work because I just described 1/2 of the patrons in the casino!!!! LOL...PS, when you do make it to Mohegan and even with some of the machines at Foxwoods, the correct amount for the Royal is paid even at the penny level as long as you have the 5 coins in. As you know already, you are stuck with the junky paytables on anything less than a quarter....good luck Sam and good health....

Take care of yourself and family first Sam. The casinos will always be there calmly waiting for our return to make our wallets a little lighter. Struck out last night too at Mohegan. Highest thing I got in over 5 hours was a full house. Switched to double down stud for awhile and no better. Saw a good WNBA game and nice dinner though. I am reversing my usual closing remark.....good health and then good luck....Olds/Dave....
