My watered down Martingale method

Post by olds442jetaway »

This money management method has kept me alive with no failures so far until a big hit comes in like 5 of a kind, straight flushes, or quads close together. ( I don't even rely on the Royal to bail me out here.) I have only tried this on Joker Kings 17/7 so far. It is also easy enough to practice on this site for no cost.
I begin by betting 1 unit. I stay at 1 unit until 17 units are lost. I make a note of my remaining credits for example 383 if I had started with 400.  I then bet 2 and if at any time my total exceeds the 383 credits above, I return to betting 1 unit until my total credits remaining falls below 383 again. Then I bet 2 units again and repeat the pattern. If my total falls to 349 units which means I have lost what a quad would have paid me with 2 units bet, I start betting 3 units. I also back the bet down accordingly as above on winning streaks. If my total falls to 298 units which means I have lost what a quad would have paid me with 3 units in, I up my bet to 4 units and so forth up and down accordingly. I find it easier to start with 1200 units in case there any really cold streaks.  So far after quite a number of sessions, I have not been wiped out. You have the potential of having quite a nice win by hitting big hands at the higher bet, but most of the time, this just keeps you alive waiting for some really good hands. I think the reason this is fun and keeps you going is that on this game, the quads hit in the long run 3.4 times as often as JOB. Of counse they are only 17 to 1 instead of 25, but this allows you to back down at least. It is always nice when something good hits like on my last session when a straight flush hit at 50 to 1 with 6 units bet, then 3 hands later at a much lower bet another one hit. Anyway, on that session it was time to ho home anyway and I was 400 units ahead. I am afraid this will not work well on those horrible cycles on DDB when no quads hit for hours and hours, but at least for now, I am happy with the results on Joker Kings. I am not suggesting anyone try this with real money unless they want to, but try it on this site and if you exceed 5 units in your bet, unfortunately, you will have to use a calculator to see where you are in betting units at any given moment. I wish this site would allow you to bet more than 5 units on the games, but I imagine the programing cost would be too high. Anyway, have fun and as always, good luck and good health......

Money management systems do not change the basic mathematics of the game.17/7 KBJW is a pretty weak game when played 5 coins at a time. Played with short coins and it's substantially weaker. Play this game (without a particularly unusual slot club or promotion) and you will lose. This money management will often win --- however the losses will more than wipe out the wins. The fact that the original poster has won a few times in a row and hasn't experienced the inevitable losses is irrelevant. That is due more to luck than anything else. Those losses will come. Guaranteed. If you want to slow down your losses --- this system might do that. It's complicated enough that it will slow down your play and hence you'll "invest" fewer coins per hour. It also invests fewer coins (albeit at a worse rate). That helps slow down your rate of loss as well. Neither of these things improves your chances of winning --- and the short coins actually dramatically reduce your chance of winning. (Short coin turns a 98.1% game into a 96.9% game.)Bob

Bob is right of course on all of the math and technical stuff. All I can say is I need a  fewer number of bets with the higher units to offset all of the bets with lower units. Works for me so far. 6 consecutive trips so far with no losses. Granted mostly small wins, but I never had more than 3 consecutive winning trips in a lifetime of playing (flat betting 5 coins at a time). The usual ratio betting that way at least for me was 7 or 8 loser trips and only 1 or 2 winning ones. Could be just luck for now, but I think managing the money is the key even with a poor paytable. I know I won't win the argument on statistics, I can only speak for results. I will post when and if this fails. I expect at some point and probably pretty soon I will have a losing session, but if the end result including comps is positive, that is all I care about. Good luck and health to all.........
