double draw poker

Post by tedperk »

Went to gulfstream race track in Halandale beach Fl.  Came across a poker machine called Double Draw Poker.  It is a Bonus Poker Machine with a pay table as follows: 1 2 3 4 4 6 25 40 80 50 250. of course on playing the 5th credit the 250 becomes 4000, but then with the 6th it becomes 8000 and it doubles all the way till 10 credits 120,000.  This machine also has a feature that if you are delt either Three of a kind or a Full house you could draw not once but twice.   My question is:  with this type of a situation would you ever discard the pair in a full house to try and go for Four of a kind ?

Do you get 2 distinct paying draws or just get 2 chances to draw with the opportunity to stay after the first draw if you are happy with it?

If the latter, with the pay schedule above, you should try to draw both times with a full house with 3 aces; draw once to a full house with 3 twos-fours, staying with a full house if you get another one on the first draw; and hang on to any full house with trip fives thru kings if you want the highest expected value.

With a full house paying 6, the decision points are: go for it twice if the quads pay 70 or more, go for it once if the quads pay 36-69, and keep the full house if the quads pay 35 or less.

By the way, you stated the payout for the royal doubles until 10 credits.  Does this mean that there would be 64000 on the 9th coin and 128,000 on the 10th coin or does it stop short of doubling on the 10th coin at the 120,000 that you stated?

The last I heard Florida was all VLTs. Has something changed?
