The Ipod Incident...
The wife and I have been using Bob Dancers Win poker the original version for about eight years.
Since we started using the software we have a very solid DDB game...
I was having a good day a while back at Bally's in vegas. The wife was playing at the front
of the casino and I was at the back. I had my Ipod with me so I put on my earphones and fired it up.
I hit some good hands had the pay meter just over $1500 when the waitress comes by to see if I wanted
a drink I removed one of earphones and ordered a beer. Before she got back I hit Quad 2's with a kicker she got back when the machine was giving me my credits. She gave me my beer I tipped her and
she left. About five minutes later she comes back to see if I wanted another beer a replied it's
almost full but bring me one on your next trip, Then she askes what are the earphones for? I replied
for my Ipod then she asks can I listen to what you playing. I pulled the Ipod out of my shirt poket
and handed it to her she held one earphone to her ear and listened a bit and handed it back and commented that it was a nice song it was a spanish conjunto song and she was white so chances are she did not understand what the song was saying. I have never forgoten what happened that day and have always wondered if the casino's eye in the sky sent the waitress to check me out or she told the casino management about my earphones and was sent back to see if I really had an Ipod or not. I don't use my Ipod in the casinos anymore but I do enjoy listening to my own songs rather than the casinos music...Was it just a curious waitress or was I being checked on...What do you think...

No way security had the waitress check you out. Sounds more of a case of a curious waitress looking to keep you playing, drinking and tipping. As long as you're not doing anything abnormal at a machine, security in the bigger casinos will leave you alone. I've sat at machines with wizardofodds.com on my phone referring back to pay tables and correct plays and have never been questioned by security.

you never know these days, but then again, ten years ago I still "never knew"....check this crap out.... around 2003 in Reno at the now defunct Fitzgeralds I had a long, fairly profitable session of blackjack.....I was playing at the low limit table (like I always do) where min bet was 5 bucks, max bet was 200. For nearly 5 hours I kept winning, albeit at a slow rate. My bets never exceeded 40 dollars per hand, and when all was said and done I wlaked away up about 700 bucks.....not bad considering it was 6 deck shoes and I was not counting.....however, during this 5 hour marathon I was having major trouble with my hearing aid in my right ear....the acoustics of the casino just would not stop it from giving feedback and beeping....every ten minutes I was moving it around, tapping it, changing the battery (twice), anything I could think of.....twice I took it out of my ear for a while, but since I am stone deaf without it, I'd eventually get frustrated not hearing and put it back in. You probably see where this is going.......around hour 4 of my session I went to the can and when I returned two sharp dressed suits were next to the dealer, and they asked to speak to me over by the cage......I wheeld over there and they asked me a series of questions about my hearing aid(s), culminating with "would you mind if we took a look at it sir?" When I said "fine, sure go ahead", they looked at each other and said, "Ok never mind, we just wanted to see what your response to that request would be, please rejoin the game and good luck sir, sorry to trouble you but you'd be surprised the schemes some people come up with...." I shrugged and went back to the game. Clearly people use ear devices for nefarious purposes sometimes, but i doubt they'd make it so obvious as I was with my legit hearing aids, but the fact that I kept winning, even a small amount, over an extended period is what caused them to check me out after 4 plus hours. One of the reasons I rarely fly these days and have not been to vegas in several years and settle for Atlantic city is for me to now go through airport security in my wheelchair and with my hearing aids, its a farking ORDEAL and a half. They will have me remove my hearing aids and inspect them as well as have me get out of my wheelchair and into one of their metal clunkers and proceed to turn my w/chair upside down!

I have the Bose No Noise earphones. Not the big ones, but the next step down. I look like I could be a air traffic control operator, but they are GREAT. Work like a champ. I wear them in all the casinos and have only been questioned once by a bartender who wanted a pair and wanted to see what they were like. I wear them 99% of the time, even walking around..hooked up to my IPOD. I also sometimes use my cell phone, but there is noone I really want to talk to when I am playing. Only time I have ever been questioned in a casino was in AC when a women went ballistic and knocked the bejeebers out of an elderly women for no reason. Just checking what I saw. Daburgler, that is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS what they are doing to you at the airport. My Mom had a pacemaker and she stopped flying when they could not calculate in their brains that a pacemaker could not be removed for them to check......twits

What state are you from DaBurglar...
Sorry to hear all the trouble you have when you fly...
All I have to worry about is not getting to blitzed when I play...LOL...
I am from Texas...
Maybe will get some casinos in the near future now that Rick Perry is gone...
In my eyes Texas is missing the boat big time by not allowing casino gaming...
If we get casino gaming voted in I will very happy not having to travel to play Vp...
I'm going to turn 62 in May 1st and I'm thinking of retiring so I will have plenty
of time to play...

well its a pain in the arse, but not as outrageous as you might think.....if you have ever seen real life plastic explosive, and then seen what a typical inner ear mould for a hearing aid looks and feels like, there is little obvious difference between the two substances......kinda scary actually. irregardless, i choose not to fly except on an extremely infrequent basis....if only AC would adopt Nevada gaming regs and implement sports betting, I wouldnt give a crap anymore!

The original post was about being suspected of using some sort of computer assistance while playing. I wish to comment on that.
On the radio show, our legal eagle Bob Nersesian believes that using a program such as WinPoker while in the casino is 100% ILLEGAL in Nevada. So far casinos haven't chosen to go after players for that, but they could at any point.
Players who say they've tried it in the past with nothing bad happening are telling the truth --- but the truth may be irrelevant here. At any point in time, a casino could have a change in management or in management philosophy and go after such players even if they haven't in the past.
Is it worth the risk? Probably --- especially if you're a low stakes player. High stakes players are watched more closely because they have the potential of winning mega-thousands. If you win such amounts AND are using such a device --- then you're the kind of target the casino would be most likely to go after.

Given how Nevada's state law is currently written (also my home state of Missouri), I feel "believes" is too weak of a word. It IS currently illegal, but it is rarely (maybe never) prosecuted because I do believe that a casino that would prosecute could get a lot of flak for doing so. To be totally safe though, one should use printed strategies only.

Thanks Bob...& Vman...
I'm not a pro but can play close to 100% on average...ounce in a while I do mess up on
hi card strights with suited cards...on the A,Q,J unsuited other than that I do pretty good for a amature...
I play DDB Dollar single line only so I don't think I'll be changing the bottom line on any casino with my play...
I do not use any aids I do practice a lot before I go to visit a casino...
The wife and I only play in Vegas in the last few years we've been playing and staying at Station casinos because of there 10/7 available a while back and there 10/6 available now...So as far as my Ipod goes I should be good to go...as Damule mentioned...Because an Ipod in not even close to being an aid of any kind...
As a matter a fact I would say it falls on the distraction catagogy...
