Question about VideoPoker.com games

Post by FloridaPhil »

I'm curious about the games on VideoPoker.com.  Does anyone know if the games use a real RNG to produce the hands or are they preprogrammed?

Every card is selected at random using a RNG.

Thanks for the info.  I've been playing Dancers Video Poker for Winners on my PC for along time and from what I've seen it's not using an RNG.  I believe this because it allows you to select the difficulty of the hands.  Also, I don't see the weird variances like you do in casino play.  This brings up an interesting thought.  I don't gamble on-line for money.  I don't think I could ever trust those games.

Video Poker for Winners is different. If you set a difficulty in Video Poker for Winners, hands are pre-selected because this is a tool to train on specific hand types (beginner, intermediate, advanced) for that pay table. If you set the level of difficulty to "mixed" you will get hands selected at random as you would normally expect. On VideoPoker.com, all of the contests, normal games and training mode use the RNG for selecting every single card at random to emulate the experience you would find in the casino.

So, your games are rigged too?   /sarcasm

Sadly that's what's I have dealt with lately 5 Royals on the 50-play with STP contest last week.    That makes my Royal count on play money games push close to 10 this year, blah.

Thought I would try my luck at that game for the penny level (at either 9 or 6 hands each because I can't afford $3/round). I bricked 15 Royal draws, 2 of which the machine teased me with a "ding" noise for hitting a $1.25 Wild Royal (the unit actually writes "Royal Flush" for this) instead of hitting the wacky $56 Natural Royal ("Royal Flush w/No Deuces"). I played for a long time (6 hours), but I ended $80 poorer after about $730 coin-in. And no casino Royals for 11 months now.
