Re: Deuces Wild Dream Card
This probably deserves its own thread, but since it is related to Dreamcard in general (not dreamcard deuces per se) I decided to throw it in this moldy thread..... I was reviewing my playlog notebooks and came across two instances of more dreamcard "weirdness"....this is not neccessarily a mistake but still clues you in to the bizarre programming instilled in this erstwhile fun game. While playing dreamcard Bonus Poker Deluxe (which gives 400 max credits for any quad), i was twice dealt four of a kind in the first four card slots before the fifth dreamcard slot, and then actually had the "dreamcard" feature kick in, much to my dismay! One time I had 6 6 6 6 and then ***dreamcard*** followed by a 7 (of spades!!) Another hand I had K K K K ***dreamcard*** followed by the A (of spades!!) Anyone want to speculate on just wtf is going on here?????

Programmer thought it was easier to program that way? No real clue.

What do you think the dream card should have been?

well the cynic in me says the dreamcard should have never been activated given the fact the hand already was as good as it was going to get.... however what seems to have kicked in is simply the NEXT higest card after the fourth card is selected by the program. I want to know if the programmer just threw in the easiest solution or what.....it was obviously a conscious choice because if it was an oversight or never contemplated the program most likely would have just FROZE or errored out.

Yeah it was just a conscious choice. Personally I probably always give an Ace (or king if you have 4 Aces in a non-kicker game) And dream cards still have to be given with the same probability as they normally are regardless if the dream card can actually help you.
I think this scenario is less annoying that what happened to me a couple of weeks ago at the casino. I was playing Double Super Times Pay, had a straight draw, missed, and AFTER I missed, the game then bothers to give me a 10X multiplier. I don't ever recall seeing the game give a draw multiplier after a draw was completed (except for pat hands). Playing deuces, I have been drawing dead a lot though when the draw multiplier shows up with one card to be drawn.

I have a hard time imagining why the selection process of a meaningless card would be of interest. Your post does raise a good question in my mind, i.e., when is the determination that there will be a dream card actually made? Does anyone know for sure?

If you play dreamcard, access the help section and it tells you what percentage of the time for the game you chose the dreamcard is activated. For deuceswild, you get a dreamcard 58% of the time, for plain old jacks or better, 50%, for double bonus, 44%, for BP Deluxe, 40%, for TDB, 28%.....this is on the 5 star machines at Caesars AC. Obviously, this variable can be changed per machine, per casino. Once the percent is set, a subroutine runs a seprate rng weighted according to the percent set and determines on each hand if a dreamcard gets activated or not.

Well, the gist of your original post was that there is some weird programming in dream card. But, the two examples of dealt quads plus a dream card are not examples of weird and bizarre programming, and certainly don't, in my opinion, merit a wtf comment.
If asking you to explain yourself is meaningless, so be it.
