Re: Distressing CET VP Stories
As a matter of fact, in my last session on job, in 4 hours of play, I didn't have 3 to a Royal Dealt once. That would be 2400 hands or so. I wonder what the odds of that are.
Assuming the game is fair and random, the odds of getting 3 to the Royal on hand 2401 are EXACTLY the same as they were on hand 2400.
Video Poker is a game of 'independent trials', which, unlike Blackjack, means that what happened the hand before has no effect on the next hand.
People seem to think that they are 'entitled' to a good hand, since they haven't had one in a while. It is possible to play VP your entire life, and never get an RF. The odds of an RF are the same each hand you play.
I probably should have said what is the probability of going 2400 hands without being dealt 3 to a Royal Flush. most people just say what are the odds of that and they really mean what is the probability. p(x)= chances for
-------------
total chances

Well, keeping records is NOT nearly as hard or difficult as a person may think or imagine, it simply requires the DESIRE to do so and the discipline to play at a steady even keel sp you can keep the type of records you want.....it's not rocket science, and does not require a photgraphic memory, but a good memory definitely makes things easier and more accurate. MUCH of the info you need is already available without you needing to record it, like coin in, number of hands played, profit/loss......this is all available from the machine itself when you start and stop the session. this means you can simply focus on making little quick notes whenever a hand result of interest happens. I play at a steady 400-500 hands per hour usually, sometimes more or not, but that is a number that allows me to do whatever else i want in terms of result tracking. ALL I do is make a little tick on a small note pad whenever a full house or better comes up, or a DUD hand comes up. one little mark. at the end of the hour, or if I am just ready to quit, I tally it up and enter the number in my main note pad and move on from there. making a little tick or dash takes a mllisecond so it does not in itself slow me down. I think most people simply want to play and have fun so this concept is anathema to them....but for me it IS part of the fun (except as of late in LOSING in AC). Still, I have no doubt tedlark or anyone else here is more than smart enough to do this, its just a matter of wanting to do so......each his own. Hell, I would say just keep it simple: simply just make a note on each no value - dud hand, track only the duds! then calculate total hands played from your session players card point total and VOILA! you have your very own dud rate (which, on a normal Nevada style VP game machine should be in the area of 55%, plus or minus a few points. certainly NOT above 60% for any real length of time or number of hands!)

A not so distressing VP story, Rio apparently has 40/10/6 DDB for $1 3/5/10 Play. $50 for a tier credit though of course. We'll see how long this clear error lasts...lol
Off to Horseshoe Hammond today to verify the further removal of $1 9/6 JoB reported earlier this week...ugh
