5 Aces on Double Down Stud
Couldn't get on a regular Double Down Stud Deuces Wild machine Friday night as they were both taken at Mohegan Sun. Settled for Bonus Deuces Wild DDStud which has a 97.1 paytable vs 97.7 for regular Deuces wild. Put in two 20s hoping for something good and if not head for the 5 cent Multistrike machine. Got lucky after about 15 minutes and caught 5 Aces which paid 2,000 quarters when doubled. Cashed out and messed around with low denomination stuff the rest of the evening with a little shopping, dinner, and filling up the tank on them. Wife came close to breaking even on Bonus Poker, so overall it was a pretty good trip for a change.

So these DD stud games aren't multigame machines? How old are these? Lol
Great hit!

These are single line games. These machines go back to when the casino first opened so close to 20 years. There are only a handfull left. Screens are weak, some buttons stick etc., but I like them because you can play about 1200 hands an hour and hopefully, hit something good in 8 hours or so. They also have a few multi line ones, but the paytables are usually lower than 97% for the most part. I have hit 2 or 3 dealt Royals on the single line games, but that is since 2001. Five Aces a few times, wild Royals, etc. If the quads are hitting every so often like they should every 80 hands or so, you can hang in there pretty well, until one of the big ones comes up. They also have 5 or 6 other games in there similar to those on this site, but I like the deuces games the best.

I didn't mean multiline, I meant multigame. But if they are that old, maybe multigame units weren't big back then either.

Sorry, read your question too quickly. They are multigame machines. Games in them are similar to those on this site. They changed the software a few times inside though and allow up to 25 units bet now. There are some that still have 5 units as max bet, but those don't offer anything but 6's or better. The max bet change to 25 units works well for me most of the time using my martingale clone method. I had to cut it back ( make it even less aggressive though), because a few times I busted the budget without any big hits. Now I base my bet on what I need to be even if I hit a Wild Royal on the Deuces game. So far so good after I cut back my losing progression. Very rarely in a full day of playing will I not hit either at least one wild royal, or a couple of 5 of a kinds. The occasional straight flush helps you hang in there too. At 1200 hands per hour, I will play at least 10,000 hands, so I have a decent chance/probability of the larger hits. Also about once or twice a day, I get dealt 4 to a natural royal and that really wakes me up in a hurry. A 1 in 47 or 48 shot at a natural royal on that game is good for 5k with 5 units in. I guess you know that already.

I guess I got confused because I don't understand exactly why you played the lower bonus deuces vs. the regular deuces. At one of my local casinos, they are also one of the few places in the country that still have standalone double down stud, but I think all 3 of them have the same games available and paytables (96.97% for "Jacks or better"...meh)

Wasn't able to get a regular deuces machine. Only 2 left in the casino. In fact, they have changed one of the regular deuces machines to pay 6 instead of 7 for 4 of a kind before doubling. I always play the regular deuces machine when I can get it. Usually in the middle of the night. once these break down for good, I'm sure they won't be replaced.
