Ted,....now we are on another subject (former passion of mine.) Bass fishing...I have no bragging rights on Striped Bass at all except the world record one was caught a couple of years ago in Ct. just a little offshore from my area. I think it was nearly 82 lbs. I did get a 7 pound largemouth bass a few years ago in a Ct. pond. Big fish for Ct. I'm always happy when someone else tops anything else I do. I just figure good for them, good show, etc.

DB....I saw a hunk of Bavarian petrified wood at a rockhound show a few years ago. Same table as some petrified dino poop. Thanks, and I will keep that steak in mind if I plan on getting down to A/C again.


Now back to vp......I will have some more definitive updates on the future of vp in Ct. shortly. I'm glad the trend at some A/C casinos seems to be for now to offer some higher paytables based on recent posts I read. Mohegan Sun seems to follow more what Vegas does for some reason and in particular Caesers.

Having come out of the large corporate environment not too many years ago, I can tell you from experience that, in most fields, the college where you earned your degree is irrelevant. The exceptions may be in some snooty law or marketing firms, and of course, the 'outdated' education field.
 
Most large corporations have potential employee screening performed by an HR person, who probably doesn't know Harvard from HARVA, The Houston Area Restaurant Vendors Association.

Fishing is a lot like vp (without the boredom). You have to know when to foldem. Can't say I have ever been bored playing vp. My problem is knowing when to foldem and go home for the day.

I have been skunked at both many times - bass fishing and VP.   Too cold to fish right now, but the VP has been hot. Stupid local casino doesn't allow screen shots to show to the forum though.

  Thank you for the campus tour DaBurglar, it was very eye opening, NOT. You not only are a jerk but a pompous one at that. In my neck of the woods we would refer to you as a "topper." A topper is a person who comes back over the top of another person, an example being: "I caught a bass that was 48" long and weighed 50 pounds." Instead of you saying, wow great, you instead say something like; well I caught a bass that was 54" long and weighed 60 pounds.
 
  What kind of a leg up has Harvard given you? As for where my child decides to continue their education, I don't care as long as they are happy. I don't envision Harvard being any more difficult to get into because, afterall, you got in.
  I said that the name and quality of the school a person goes to is ONE of many factors that figure in success, for any given individual, and I said that even in the case of a school like Harvard or MIT, it will only get you so far out of the starting block before all your other talents and abilities take over.   This conversation was never about debating what school or schools are better, YOU made it such when you took my post about sports and very slyly twisted it around to MAKE me seem like I was saying something about the lack of athletes at IVY league schools mean its "superior" academically, when in fact I never intended or even said it.   why dont you stop this idiotic petulance and childish prattle you direct against me......if I am a jerk then so are you for doing what you are doing, and the rest of the board can plainly see this, and they can also see that I do not mean HALF the crap you attribute to me or attempt to portray me......NO ONE else really seems to take the offense that you and you alone seem to feel the need to express, and the fact is I am NOT trying nor intending to offend anyone, or TOP anyone for that matter......who the hell do u think you are anyway to make such ridiculous and unfounded statements?    I am just posting my own feelings, experiences and perspective..... And your statement about your children being "happy" as the most important thing is really interesting, especially since I expressed such a statement/sentiment in another post not long ago.....you really like stating the obvious platitudes dont you?  And why in gods name did you even feel the need to bring your children into the mix, or even utter the line "As for my children....." etc????      where did that come from??? And as to HOW Harvard helped me get a leg up, I'd love to share that story with you because it illustrates exactly what I (and YOU and Billyjoe for that matter) are saying:   there are many things that contribute to success, but I know for sure that you asked that question without really wanting the answer.   What I meant by a leg up is pretty obvious......schools are indeed ranked, by program, by field of study, by lots of different metrics.   If your child wants a career in business, then  Stanford is the best MBA he/she can earn, and YES, it will give them a huge leg up far beyond any "snooty" marketing firm, just as Yale Law school will give them a strong advantage beyond "snooty" law firms.......come on, this sentiment about schools "not mattering" is absurd.....of course they matter, but they are FAR from all that matters......now what in the hell is so offensive or hard to accept about that???? And to Billyjoe:   Like I said in my other post, I know self made people who attended community college, and I know several "bums" who actually went to Harvard (in all fairness, they sit in Harvard Square and its apparent they may have some sort of mental illness, but still the point is the same......success in life is due to many things, and it does not hurt to have a Harvard degree on your resume.    And I beg to differ about what you said regarding "most human resources people" not knowing who or what "Harvard" is or means......I am sure you did not mean that as you typed it, lol.   To WEBMAN:     I would ask you to read the thread from start to finish, and then comment on the following statement made at the end of Tedlark's post reply to me - I don't envision Harvard being any more difficult to get into because, afterall, you got in.  Its pretty obvious the spirit and intent is way beyond good natured humor and ribbing (which I am all for) so I would just ask you to privately advise tedlark to keep it decent and civil.....I do not count my acceptance/attendance/graduation at Harvard as my life's singular achievement   I've had to overcome far more difficult challenges and I have far greater personal achievements that are totally private and have no relevance being posted on a VP forum.....I would never, nor have I, denigrated or belittled anything or any aspect of another person's life on this forum (or anywhere for that matter.....)   I do not feel I should have to endure such here.......and while I personally am not offended by being called "jerk" for the second time by Tedlark, some other poster might feel offended by such a term......nor do I care about being called pompous, since that is just his opinion and I know myself to be the complete opposite, but again, some other poster in the future might have a problem with such personal and critical banter......

  In another forum post I made a resolution for the upcoming new year to ease my reactions to you and your inaccurate, b.s., et al, postings and only respond if you attacked me personally. I will hold true to that word but as I said in the above paragraph that if you lived around me then my feud with you would have been resolved, albeit in a different manner, eons ago.

For the record I am not nor do I have any issue with those who are. I also said before, that; as someone who fights acts of discrimination for you to make those types of comments to and about me is offensive.
