Dueces Wild question
I was dealt a royal flush with three dueces. Go for the four dueces or hold the royal flush. I held the flush but I did it because my money was down and it changed the way I would have played. Now I know why I see poeple covering the credits. Also, when playing the same game, I find that I do better by throwing away four to a flush, or an open straight. When I do play them, I almost never never make it but get better hands dealt to be. What do others do. Do you hold for the flush or an open straight? One more question, if you get two deuces and one of the other three cards is a picture or an ace, do you hold for the royal flush.

As far as the two deuces and any face card is concerned ,I would only hold the two deuces.Of course if I had two deuces and two suited face cards I would hold all four.

If you are 4 to a s.f. or royal with the 2 wilds, go for that hand as those opportunities don't come along that often. As far as 3 wilds being part of the s.f. or royal, it does depend on your bankroll and whether you can absorb the miss. That's why we have the free games on the website to practice with. It might be the confidence builder you need !!!---CWA---

I may be incorrect, but, i don't recall any standard deuce paytables that would call for you holding an SF that contains 3 deuces. WRF's w/3 deuces are held. 5oak's paying 75 also would be held.

As bigboy indicated, the paytable determines your play. Assuming 200-1 return on quad deuces and a 25-1 payback on the wild RF you should always hold the WRF. However, if you're playing loose deuces with 500-1 payback on the deuces you throw away the wild RF.
This is why getting a software package that lets you modify the paytables and test various hands is so important to anyone looking to improve their play. Some of the programs have been mentioned here before but I will repeat some of them.
vipoker, winpoker, VPfW, FVP, WVP, optimumVP, etc.
Webman, I'm thinking that a category for software programs might be useful. We could discuss the pluses and minuses of the various packages.
PS. For most deuces games you do hold four for a flush or open ended straight over a complete redeal.

A 20-1 pay on a WRF is also an acceptable hold in standard(4 Ducks-1000) deuces. A good rule of thumb that i employ with 3 deuce hands is that 3 deuces held by themselves has an EV of around 70. If your dealt 3 deuce hand will pay greater than 70......., hold it. Bonus deuce games are more complicated, though. Check out vipoker to analyze "non-standard" deuce games.

Thanks for the replies. It was a standard 1000 four deuces game.

The programs mentioned above. Are they available in a regular computer section of any retail store?

Vipoker is an online freebie. It's doubtful you will find anything worthwhile at a store(usually Masque software for casual players).
