First off, nice to hear from shadowman....secondly, I like that word "daburglaresque"!

Glad you like it.

Reading more and more of these stories make me think I should keep better records for myself. Although I play so sporadically in casinos, I struggle to believe I will see statistics so out of whack with expectation.

I guess I could write down the number of hands played and each occurrence of rarer hands (at least quads or better). I would also be tempted to write down stp multiplier results, but that's also more recording. And considering I like to drink and play, I could see myself forgetting to record things.

Yes, Daburglaresque....excellent and fitting new word. Mr. Webster are you listening?? For that matter I could see where it could be used as a noun, adjective, adverb, or for that matter even a gerund. I think we would need an ing for that though lol...Lets replace some of that urban slang stuff with Daburglaresque....Has such a ring of quality to it

Vman....Have a Stella Pale Lager on me on your next trip, or if you get out to Mohegan, have as many as you like on me. Don't think you can get it on the floor, but the lounge still has it. Goes really well with a pulled pork or Philly steak sandwich both of which we have all of the time out here ...PS...those are on me too!!

Vman, dont sabotage your vacations, or gum up your good times in the casinos with a seat full of turds because you are trying to record data.....trust me, it is really easy once you get the routine down and have a clear idea of exactly what it is you do want to record, and what is not relevant.first off, most casinos, like CET properties, make it extremely easy to figure out the TOTAL number of hands you play in any given session just by noticing what your tier point balance is at the beginning of the session and what it is at the end.  You can extrapolate this info simply by making sure you always bet the same amount each hand, and as long as you know how many hands/coin in it takes to get the counter to increase for each tier point, its simple math....no need to record EVERY SINGLE HAND  lol! Then, if all you want to do is record something as rare as Quads, just have a handy piece of paper there and a writing utensil, and voila!    You see what I am getting at????I myself have been doing this for so long now that I kinda have the whole thing ingrained in my muscle memory and its second nature, but of course, since AC has sucked rotten eggs for so long, I have been less and less motivated as of late to be as detailed or thorough as I used to be.    Still, if you want to record even MORE details besides number and type of quads, such as hands as common as full houses, flushes and so forth, you can do this too at the expense of speed of play and total number of hands played, but so what....?   the tradeoff can be beneficial as well as informative.   Where is it that you play your video poker, or in other words, which casino(s)????    Remember, I have gotten pretty normal results in Vegas and the rest of Nevada, such that when I finally went to AC for the first time in 2009 and decided to play there for an extended period of time, I was expecting the machines to behave and work essentially the same as in Nevada.  I was fully aware of the difference in paytables across the wider spectrum of machines, but I sought out the Best (or "least crappy") paytables in AC, such as 8/5 bonus poker or 9/6 JOB, and stuck the vast majority of my play with them....hence, when I started to record and analyze the abysmal results I received, it was puzzling at first, shocking later on, and finally extremely annoying and frustrating.     You get the idea.....  good luck  and let us know what you come up with.!!!!!!!!!!PS   I am going to intentionally make a funny attempt to "screw" with your name to see if it elicits a response from you, or perhaps some "other" poster....so here goes....brace yourself:So long, V(d)MAN!!!!!    hahaha  ho ho har har  giggle snort **wheeze cough ack ack**

On a serious note (if that is at all possible on this Forum, particularly on this thread), I recently had a discussion with a CET Executive from Vegas on an entirely different matter. He mentioned to me, though, that he had just returned from a high level meeting, where one of the subjects being discussed was the feedback that ALL the CET properties have been receiving from customers regarding diminished returns on VP. He told me that the head of all gaming technology for CET made the presentation, and stated unequivocally that there has been NO TECHNOLOGY OR PROGRAMMING CHANGES to the machines that would reduce the payouts from the game's paytable  IN THE LAST THREE YEARS.

So I asked the Executive - "How about PRIOR to three years ago?" The Exec told me that the subject of any changes prior to three years ago had not been discussed.

Interesting...

Even if the programming was only to insure the true premium hands being spread at even intervals a serious VP player would notice it. The hit and run 1 time player would thank his good fortune...the serious player would notice the diminished return over time.
And the NEXT big thing about your post billyjoe---they cant "program" a completely random RNG---just shows right there they have controls in place. There is zero doubt VP is being affected by something other than pay tables. I even noticed the last few years I played hold em poker on line the RNG had changed, in almost the same time frame I noticed VP change. Took me awhile to not blame a "random" down swing at both, then after 18 months there was zero doubt changes had been made.

I liked DaBurglar's attempt at least. And appreciate your response.

Interesting indeed. Because either their brass is that stupid, or CET is breaking multiple states' laws. Neither of these are very positive news.

Have you considered the fact that players also got better over time?

I really wished I gambled harder in online poker around 2005/2006. Games were jokes back then vs. what they were in 2011. I don't even want to imagine online poker now. I'd probably get my butt kicked for sure.
