Four Winds - New Buffalo, MI

Post by Tedlark »

Hi fellow players;

  I went to the new casino in southern Michigan last weekend, Four Winds. Its run by the Potawatami Indians and the first word that comes to mind to describe it is: BIG!!! The casino opened on August 2nd so this was the first weekend for business and the place was jam packed. Unfortunately I didn't see too much in terms of video poker and there was no one area that video poker players could call home there as machines were scattered here and there. There were quite a few single line games but for us multi line players it was limited.

  I will give them props for the hotel though, the rooms were absolutely First Class. I had a small two room suite and it was equipped with two 32" flat screen t.v.'s, plenty of furniture in the sitting room, a wet bar, and a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom.

  Hopefully the crowds will diminish after a while but their first weekend did hurt the Blue Chip in Michigan City. Could syphon a bit from Detroit too.

  Good Luck to all.

Have anybody found any "full pay" VP machine there ?  I found only one 9/6 JoB machine. It was hidden between 2 bad paytable machine's. I want to start playing other VP games but have yet found one with good paytable....

I agree that Four Winds is beautiful - but I just haven't heard of much winning - I've never even seen a hand payout.....????

Hello All - I've been to Four Winds a few times since it opened.  They seem to have a number of VP machines, but scattered throughout the place.  I quite honestly don't recall seeing any multi-line.  We were able to find two .25 Game Kings with 9/7 Double Bonus.  More of that in the .50 and $1.00 machines.  But most VP is Indian pay tables and we know they don't pay too well.  But the place is beautiful (and big).  The entrance is something to look at with all the wood beams and fireplaces on either end.  Food is really good in the steakhouse.  Heard they were getting rid of the seafood restaurant.  Rooms are really nice, especially the suites if you can get one.

I've been there 6 or more times now. It surely is a pretty place to lose your money, and that's what most are doing. They've added more VP machines, but I went down the line, in a few rows of machines, hitting "More Games" to see what that machine paid 0....0....0....0....$2....0.....$20....0.....$21....0.....0 I mean it was aweful. I played a few machines and talked to other players, nothing. I about lost it when I got a full house and got paid 4 ...FOUR COINS on a one coin bet! I wasn't paying attention, too depressed by that point at how much I had lost. I usually bet max, but was down to the last $20 out of $400 and not concentrating anymore.
They used to have a good $1 machine just inside the high limit room...it played really well. I sat down today, put a $20 in, bet one just to 'feel the water' and had 3 coins left...that's when I realized they changed it to $5. No more $1 machines in their high limit room. Usually $1 machines do better in high limit rooms.
I had also been awake for 24 hours, worked midnights the night before, got the kid off to school, went to Blue chip for a few hours, then to 4 winds...don't play when you're too tired to pay attention.

Since you mentioned you were tired are you sure the FOUR COINS wasn't from a deuces wild machine? This is not that unusual of a payback for deuces games.

Many, many years ago (10?) I was wandering around a low limit area with lots of nickel slots. I found a decent VP machine and put in $5. When I saw I only got ONE credit I almost croaked. Why the machine was located near so many nickel machines is anybodies guess. I cashed out without playing a hand.

SM, Me do that too, only I put $100 in what I thought was a $5 machine at Ameristar outside of Cinni.  I was going to play one at a time and got a couple of hits. Had 7 credits when I realized, Oh Geez, it's a $25 machine. Hit the cash button and ran like the wind.

I go to 4 Winds once a week - they have lots of quarter and multi-denom VP machines -- I've done fairly well on them, but no big jackpots.  The largest was $1200 (4 Aces).  It's fun to play the Spin Poker, Super Times Pay, and have won on those.  They are multi-denom but only penny to ten cents. To Kat - I had won a considerable amount on that $1/$5 machine in the high limit area -- they've moved it out or somewhere else -- machines in high limit have been shifted around!  I like the casino, but don't like the set up of machines.  It seems very crowded since they have so many of the tall, penny machines in the front of the casino.  Not able to see back into the casino very well.
